Like babies and all. Just thought up of it.
- Baby Mario: After him, Baby Luigi and Young Toadsworth went back to their right time in Partners in Time, they kept the Time Machine (it was never mentionned again after PiT, and we have no proof Gadd got it back). Then, when they were a bit older, during the reconstruction of the Mushroom Kingdom after the Shroobs' attack, Toadsworth agreed to bring back Mario to the future, so he could observate his future self's doings and learn from it so he would end up growing strong like his future self is. So, using the Time Machine, Baby Mario went in the future, but prior to his meeting with his future self in PiT - rather, during the events of Mario Golf 64. He would then come back several times during sports events, to compete and train to become what his future self will eventually be - a strong hero.
Now, you might wonder how does this fit with the theory that the Shroob invasion wasn't supposed to happen in the first place (see here: kamikazekoopa.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=continuity&action=display&thread=450 ). Well, I think that it works like this:
- timeline A: Shroob invasion doesn't happen, history goes normally until Partners in Time, in which the timeline gets "updated" with the Shroobs attacking the kingdom about 20 years in the past.
- timeline B: Shroob invasion happens, Baby Mario travels to the future after that, but because of time travel logic, he ends up in timeline A (for games prior to PiT) - because the Shroobs didn't try invading the kingdom and get teleported to the past yet.
- Baby Luigi: Same, except he was too shy to dare going in the future and meet his future self again. He ends up going with his big brother since the Mario Kart Double Dash tournament though.
- Baby Peach: Again, goes with Mario and Luigi in the future since the Mario Kart Wii tournament (she's obviously older than in PiT).
- Baby Daisy: The Mushroom Kingdom and Sarasaland are probably on very good terms, and the daughter of the king of Sarasaland used to be brought to the MK for vacations frequently. I'd assume that she ended up going with Mario, Luigi and Peach in the future after making friend with Peach.
- Baby Donkey Kong: The Kongs probably went to the MK several times (hell, there's a giant tower with Cranky's face on it in the MK, according to Game Boy Donkey Kong). DK somehow ended up joining the other babies in their time travel (although he only joined for the events of Mario Super Sluggers, as a baby at least).
- Donkey Kong Jr. (in Mario Tennis 64): DK went back to the Mushroom Kingdom several years later and got to use the Time Machine again, although he joined an event that happens earlier in the future timeline this time (he even teamed up with his future self).
- Metal Mario (in Mario Golf 64 and Mario Kart 7): Future Mario. In the (probably distant) future, him and Bowser have gained enough power to both become pretty much immortal and unbeatable (doubt their conflict is settled though). They go back in time to evaluate their strenght not by fighting each other (as they can't even manage to hurt each other), but by competiting with the only people they can comparate to - themselves, in the past. They went back in time by using future technology, perhaps.
- Dry Bowser: See Metal Mario.
As for Rosalina in Mario Kart titles, it's not like the Comet Observatory is constantly moving - it's stable in Mario Kart 7 and Mario Tennis Open anyway. And Rosalina might allow herself to go back to her homeplanet more frequently - the events of SMG and SMG2 must've made her nostalgic about her home after all, even more considering Mario, Peach, Bowser, and the Toad Brigade are all from the MK too.
Any thoughts ?
