Making a game like this would be kinda pointless, in my opinion.
First of all, whereas Sonic has undergone massive changes over the last 20 years, Mario has remained pretty much the same. Sure he's changed a little bit. But, his physical appearance and the way the games play have remained virtually untouched.
Secondly, we already have the New Super Mario Bros. series and, now, Super Mario 3D Land (which looks to be seamless blend between the Classic 2D side-scroller games, and the newer 3D games). I don't see how you could get anymore retro than those games...

I'm not being a wet blanket. I'm being realistic. It's not going to exist. Nintendo doesn't need to pull a stunt like this because they're not SEGA. You yourself just said the game's premise is completely pointless.

I already have read it. But, just the whole idea behind it seems kinda pointless (no offense).
Mario's games have literally remained so consistent over the years that it's almost impossible to draw the line between what could be considered "Modern Mario" and what could be considered "Classic Mario"...

Alright, sorry guys (like EpicGyllynn) who were excited about this idea, I haven't done anything about this in a while and I just got back to it a couple days ago, but now, all I have to finish is the Bosses and I will be able to post it! So hopefully it will be on here by tomorrow (or earlier).
