Last year (sorry for the same first two words as my Super Mario Galaxy 3 idea) I thought up a much needed idea for a Yoshi's Island game for the Wii, but I didn't really start typing it up on Word until a few weeks ago.
Indigo, another user on here, also made a Yoshi's Island Wii idea, and his idea was the very first thing I saw on this website, and I loved it! So, I decided to post my game ideas on here also!
There are some similarities between his idea and mine, and if you read both of ours you'll see what they are.
But I must warn you before you read this, THERE IS A LOT OF READING INVOLVED IN THIS WHOLE THING!! I MEAN ALOT!!
Just sayin'...
Anyway, here is my giant Yoshi's Island Wii idea! -
Yoshi’s Island Wii:
Story –
One calm day on Yoshi’s Island, Yoshi is walking deep in the forest, when out of nowhere, Mt. Hotpotato begins to erupt fiercely! The cause of the eruption is soon detected; an enormous castle is emerging from the volcano’s peak! Meanwhile, apparently un-noticed by whoever is residing in the place, six small crates with strange emblems on them fly from the castle, scattering all over the island. One crate with an M on it, lands right next to Yoshi. He slowly walks over to it, curious as to what is inside, as it begins to shake! The crate bursts open to reveal…Baby Mario?
After recovering from his brief shock at not seeing Baby Mario in a long time, Yoshi remembers him as a good friend, and plops him onto his back. Unfortunately, just then, meteors from the still-active volcano begin to rain down on Yoshi and Baby Mario, so they begin their adventure with Fruity Forest 1-0. After a quick run through that extremely short level, a group of five Toadies come down from the castle in an attempt to steal Baby Mario! Fortunately, five Spiny Eggs attached to a fishing line are dropped on the Toadies, and after they are dispatched, the source of the fishing line is revealed; a Lakitu! The Lakitu laughs and is then thrown off screen by his own cloud! Yoshi and Baby Mario are struck dumb by this! Never once has a Lakitu’s Cloud turned against its owner! Things get even more freaky when the Cloud talks! It reassures them that it is a friendly and that its name is Clouse, a helpful Cloud that knows his share of ways to get around the island. He shows Yoshi the Island Map, and tells him it’s the easiest way of getting around on the Island. He then shows Yoshi a 1-Up Cloud, and gives him an extra life.
After Clouse’s warm welcome, he shows Yoshi a few techniques (e.g. how to Flutter Jump, eat enemies, or make Eggs). Once Yoshi is equipped with the knowledge of techniques, Clouse tells him that those other crates that got flung across the island were holding Baby Mario’s other baby friends, including his brother, Baby Luigi! He also says that he figured out all this info by eavesdropping near a window on the big castle. He continues to say that while doing so, he heard a high pitched, whiny voice that he could easily point out to be the evil Magikoopa, Kamek! Along with Kamek, he says he also heard a real deep voice that could no doubt belong to the Koopa King, Bowser! He tells Yoshi that they must be plotting an attack on Yoshi’s Island using that giant castle, but he has no idea how they got it inside the volcano, or how they captured the babies. Yoshi proudly accepts the task of helping Baby Mario rescue his friends before Kamek and Bowser finds them!
When Yoshi steps foot into Fruity Forest, a cutscene plays where Pink Yoshi sees five Berries and begins eating them, but once he has eaten the last Berry, a triangular cage that was underneath the fifth Berry closes on him, and Kamek casts a spell on it to make it grow eyes and a mouth, he then carries it away on a chain (The same cutscene shows every time Yoshi unlocks the next World, except with the respective color of Yoshi, the order of which you can find in the Characters section, or the Worlds section).
Once Yoshi has beaten the first six Worlds, he reaches the volcano, Mt. Hotpotato. There he meets Bowser Jr, who says he had been thrown out of the castle by Kamek! He then says that Kamek had built a giant robot version of Bowser and put it inside Mt. Hotpotato’s Castle! Yoshi lets Bowser Jr. join their adventure and he hops on Yoshi’s back.
After Yoshi has beaten Mt. Hotpotato’s Castle, he ventures up further and finally reaches the giant Kamek’s Castle! Unfortunately, right before they enter the castle, Bowser Jr. announces that he tricked them (how un-predictable!). He says Kamek didn’t throw him out of the castle; he just fell out of it when it burst out of the volcano, and now that he got Yoshi to bring him back up there, he doesn’t need him anymore! Before Yoshi can react, Bowser Jr. takes off in a giant Toy Train!
With Bowser Jr. gone, and no baby on his back, Yoshi prepares to enter the castle alone, when he hears a familiar Italian voice! It’s Mario! The old friend of Yoshi’s runs over and tips his hat to Yoshi, before jumping onto his back. Then the two step inside Kamek’s Castle.
After playing through the entire World with Mario on your back, and beating Bowser Jr. inside his Toy Train, Yoshi and the plumber head into the final stage. When you finally reach the boss room, who’s waiting there? Not Bowser, its Kamek! Kamek is guarding Bowser’s main room and demands to battle with Yoshi! Neither Yoshi nor Mario are ones to stray from a fight, especially when an entire island is at stake, so they battle Kamek, determined to end his attacks on Yoshi’s Island once and for all.
Once the Magikoopa is defeated, he flies off and gives up the Boss Key needed to enter Bowser’s room! Once inside, yep, he’s there waiting for you. He gives some monologue, droning on and on with his speech (like always.), until the battle actually begins!
After a grueling battle with Bowser, he finally falls, and Kamek arrives to give power to Bowser with his magic! He just can’t quit!
When Bowser is given the magic dust, the screen goes black and a monstrous roar is heard. After the screen is blackened, a cutscene, (in 3D) shows all of the colored Yoshis, the other babies, and even Clouse watching from below as Giant Bowser is seen having to stand on the side of the castle to get his face up to the battle arena! He’s truly huge!
Back at the final battle, Bowser Jr. is back, and so is Kamek! Along with Giant Bowser in the background, this makes out to be one tough final boss!
When Yoshi finally defeats Giant Bowser, Mario leaps off Yoshi’s back and brings the hurt to Bowser’s face! Bowser shrinks and falls all the way down to the forest floor below. All of the babies, the colored Yoshis, and Clouse all come up to meet Yoshi and Mario in the rubble-strewn room. As they all pose together, the graphics change to the old Yoshi’s Island hand-drawn style, and the screen goes to black. After this, the credits roll, but the game is far from over.
When the credits are over and you restart the game, you’ll see that when you press 2 at the Title Screen, it will now give you the option of either playing in Modern Mode, or Classic Mode. Play Classic Mode for a pleasant surprise! (Find out about it in the Gameplay Elements section) Also, when you begin playing the game, if you’ve collected every Star Piece, a new World is unlocked, World 9: Star Stairway! Once you’ve beaten the final level for Star Stairway, you will rescue another, more secret Yoshi. It’s Black Yoshi! After that, if you’ve collect every Yoshi Coin, the final World is unlocked, World 10: Mountainside Mine! In the final level of this World, what Yoshi do you rescue? You guessed it! It’s White Yoshi!
If you manage to finish both Worlds 9 and 10, and if you’ve collected every Red Coin, then congratulations, you’ve gotten 100% in Yoshi’s Island Wii! But if you haven’t collected every Red Coin, then you’d better get to it!
Gameplay Elements –
When I said my game is similar to Indigo’s, it was true. But, there are quite a few differences, and you will find those differences here.
The graphic style in my game is the same style as New Super Mario Bros. Wii, whereas Indigo’s are more like Donkey Kong Country Returns. The background in my game however, is like that of DKCR, such as having interactive backgrounds (e.g. you can move to the background and play there, like in Super Paper Mario). Another thing in common between my game and his is the music. The music in my game is mostly orchestrated, with some parts having the techno/orchestra whatever it is music from NSMBW. There are no Stork Stops in my game, instead, you use these things called Bubble Machines (see the Items and Objects section) to switch babies. You can also switch babies on the World Map by pressing A. The babies will still get put in a bubble in my game, but the babies’ Star Counter in my game is always on the screen, and is quite different from the way the star counter works in the other two games. In my game, there are no stars to fill the Counter, instead Yoshi Coins (see the Items and Objects section) and Star Pieces (see the Items and Objects section) will fill it up. You will get 20 Star Counter Points for a Yoshi Coin, and 10 for a Star Piece. Also, instead of the Star Counter going back up to 10 if it is below that, in my game, it will go back up to the closest tenth (e.g. if it’s at 16 it will go back up to 20, if it’s at 24 it will go back up to 30 and so on). If you eat 5 berries, you will get a 1-Up. If you collect all 8 of the Red Coins in a level, you will get a 1-Up also. If you collect all 6 star pieces in a level, then you will get to play a special minigame at the end of that level that can win you extra Powerups such as the Dash Pepper. You can find your Powerups on the World Map by pressing the minus button. You can then select them by pressing 2 which will add them to your in-game Powerup stash. From there, while playing you can press minus and select a Powerup to use it. Instead of the Eggs you collect trailing behind Yoshi, there is a Counter that tells you how many Eggs you have that reads: x / 6 (x meaning however many Eggs you are holding at the time). The same goes with the Berries you eat except the Counter reads: x / 5 and it resets itself every time you eat five Berries. The same also goes for the Red Coins except the Counter reads: x / 8. The setup of the game screen is as follows: Yoshi’s lives are in the top left corner, the Star Counter is right below that, the Berry Counter is in the bottom left corner, and the Egg Counter is right above that, the Red Coin Counter is in the bottom right corner, the Coin Counter is right above that, the thing that tells you if you’ve gotten the Yoshi Coin is in the top right corner, and the Star Piece Counter is in the top center of the screen. There are 10 Worlds in this game and every World has 8 stages. While in Single Player Mode, the colored Yoshis in this game are not playable, once you rescue them, they always stand outside the Castle of that World and say “Thanks for saving me!” The only time they are helpful is if you collect all the Star Pieces in the Castle, because then, instead of doing a minigame at the end of the level, the colored Yoshi will move to the front of the World and put up a sign that says “Minigame”. Here, you can play a bigger minigame that utilizes the four fruits, (Dash Pepper, Blimp Fruit, Bulb Berry, and Water Melon) to get through different obstacle courses. But, while in Co-op Mode, any colored Yoshi can be played as Player 2, 3, or 4, with any baby they want! And now for the Classic Mode, if you choose to play the game in Classic Mode, all of the New Super Mario Bros. Wii style graphics in the game will change into the old “Pen and Paper” hand drawn style graphics from the original Yoshi’s Island!

Bosses –
Fruity Forest 1-4: Super Potted Piranha –
This guy is an enlarged Potted Piranha Plant; he attacks by hopping in his pot, spitting 3 Needleballs at you, and biting when you get too close. You wont be able to throw Eggs at him just yet, so what you do is wait until he spits out the Needleballs, then hit em’ with an Egg! Now he will be stunned and you can use your tongue to pull on his head (like in Super Mario Galaxy), when you pull his head back far enough, he’ll ricochet into his pot and knock it over, now Ground Pound the pot, do this 3 times to defeat him.
Fruity Forest 1-8: Spiny Piranha –
This guy is an enlarged Piranha Plant; he attacks by slamming his spiky head into the ground, spitting out 3 Bomb Seeds, and spitting up Lava Balls and Lava Rocks and making them rain down on the field. Eggs won’t do anything to this guy, so the thing you have to do is wait for him to spit out the Bomb Seeds, and then pick up one in your mouth, and shoot it into Spiny’s mouth while its open, do this 3 times to defeat him.
Shell Shore 2-4: Extra Large Jammyfish –
This guy is an enlarged Jammyfish; he attacks by jumping out of the water and onto the arena (like Cheep Skipper from NSMB), and summoning other Jammyfish. To hit him, wait until he jumps up onto the arena, then get on top of him and Ground Pound his head, do this 3 times to defeat him.
Shell Shore 2-8: Electrojammy –
This guy is an enlarged Red Jammyfish; he attacks by electrifying the water. To hit him, wait until he is underneath the pillar that is raised up, and Ground Pound it (every time you hit him, he puts ink on the pillar he was just under, which makes it stay electrified longer, so watch out!), do this 3 times to defeat him.
Musky Manor 3-4: Jumbo Boo –
This guy, as the name suggests, is an enlarged Boo; he attacks the same way Boos attack, and also by summoning regular Boos. Since he gets scared and turns invisible when you look at him, you must use the Bulb Berry to reveal the Bounce Platforms hidden in certain parts of the walls (which change place each time), then throw your Eggs at them so they will bounce off and hit Jumbo Boo, do this 3 times to defeat him.
Musky Manor 3-8: Boolaroo –
This guy is an enlarged Brow Boo; he attacks by body slamming you, and trying to lick you with his toxic, blue tongue. To hit him, you must find the switch (while in total darkness, except for a little bit of light around Yoshi and Boolaroo), that turns on the four lamps in the arena (which change position each time), then lure Boolaroo under one, and hit him with an Egg, do this 3 times to defeat him.
Rugged Ridge 4-4: Bulking Burt –
This guy is an enlarged Burt; he attacks by jumping around (just like in SMW 2: Yoshi’s Island), except now his pants have spikes on them, so Eggs wont work. Instead, you must find a green arrow switch (like the ones in Super Mario Galaxy) and use your tongue to flip it, which will switch the gravity to the wall (again like Super Mario Galaxy), while you and Burt are falling to the wall, you must try to get above him and Ground Pound his exposed head, do this 3 times to defeat him.
Rugged Ridge 4-8: Ham-Burt Bros. –
These guys are two enlarged Burts; they attack by…jumping. Except this time there is a minor change, you’re inside a giant rolling stone wheel! (Ergo, “Ham-Burt Bros.” as in “Hamster Burt Bros.”) To hit them, you must use one of the passing Flower Grapples to fling yourself up above the two Burts, and then try to Ground Pound one, do this 3 times for each Burt to defeat them.
Pinnacle Peak 5-4: Big Skate Guy –
This guy is an enlarged Skate Guy; he attacks by skating around, jumping, and summoning smaller Skate Guys. He is exceptionally easier than the last Burt sub-boss, but he is still a bit challenging, mostly because of how fast he is, and the fact that there is ice everywhere. To hit him, all you have to do is get on top of the two platforms on either side of the room and wait until he comes by, then Ground Pound his head, do this 5 times to defeat him.
Pinnacle Peak 5-8: Motor Guy –
This guy is an enlarged Mecha Guy; he constantly moves to the left on his treads, and attacks by firing Spike Balls from a cannon in his mouth. To hit him, throw an Egg at one of his Spike Balls to make it roll in the other direction and hit him (the last time, the Spike Ball is bigger and requires 3 Eggs in order to be turned around), do this 5 times to defeat him.
Bubbly Bluffs 6-4: Multi Bob-omb –
This guy is an enlarged Bob-omb Chain; he attacks by, well, multiplying. Whenever you jump on his head, his fuse lights like a normal Bob-omb, but once the fuse is gone, instead of blowing up, two more Bob-ombs pop out! To hit him, immediately after he pops out the two Bob-ombs, grab one in your mouth and spit it at him (do this quick, because the Bob-ombs come out already lit, so they’ll explode fast!), do this 5 times to defeat him.
Bubbly Bluffs 6-8: Boomb-omb –
This guy is a super enlarged Bob-omb; he, just like Motor Guy, constantly moves to the left. He attacks when the flaming ceiling lights his fuse. When the fuse reaches the bottom, he shoots out two flaming Spike Balls, but you’ll only have to worry about the one that lands in front of him, the other one lands behind him and rolls the other way. To hit him, do what you did with Motor Guy: shoot an Egg at the flaming Spike Ball to send it back and destroy his legs. Now he will be rolling to the left instead of walking to the left, and will fire out flaming Spike Balls every time he makes a rolling cycle. Knock back a Spike Ball 5 more times (again, the last Spike Ball will be bigger and will require 3 Eggs to move) to defeat him.
Mt. Hotpotato 7-4: Mega Mecha Koopa –
This guy is an enlarged Mecha Koopa; he again, continuously walks to the left, and attacks by dropping Spike Balls out of his mouth and firing Missile Bills out of his back. To hit him, wait until he fires a few Missile Bills, then use them like stairs and jump on them up to his head, then Ground Pound the red button up there, do this 5 times to defeat him.
Mt. Hotpotato 7-8: Mecha Bowser –
This is the Mecha Bowser that Bowser Jr was talking about! He’ll attack by firing Missile Bills and occasionally, a Bonzai Bill. To hit him, use Bowser Jr to shoot 3 fireballs into the cage on his chest, once this is done, a red, spinning alarm light on his head will go off, and he will lower himself down, allowing you to jump onto his head and Ground Pound the red light, do this 5 times to defeat him.
Kamek’s Castle 8-4: Bowser Jr –
Its time to confront the little traitor! Kamek uses his magic to give Bowser Jr a force field, so this battle is gonna be a little tougher than the fight with ol’ Baby Bowser! The arena here is a lot like the arena from the first Yoshi’s Island, being in a toy train and all, but the fight is also similar! The young Koopa attacks by spitting 3 fireballs at a time and Ground Pounding you. To hit him, knock his Ground Pound waves back at him using your own Ground Pound to crack the force field, and then repeat that once more to break it. Now this part can be tricky, because Bowser Jr will make a brake for the other side of the room, and if he gets there, Kamek will come and give him a new force field! So all you need to do is hit him with an Egg to knock him on his back, then Ground Pound his stomach, do this 3 times while keeping him from the other side to defeat him.
Kamek’s Castle 8-8 part 1: Kamek –
Now to face the Magikoopa himself! The floor of this arena is exactly like the pillared floor of Morton’s battle in New Super Mario Bros. Wii. In this battle, Kamek puts a force field on himself as well! He attacks by firing magic blasts at you, and occasionally he’ll use his magic to summon a Thwomp which will slam down and cause the pillars to fly up. To hit him, you really don’t have to do anything at first, just wait for him to summon a Thwomp, then it will slam down, and the pillars will fly up and crack Kamek’s force field, repeat this again to break it. After that’s gone, just shoot an Egg at him twice, and then he will create another force field, do all this 5 times to defeat the menace.
Kamek’s Castle 8-8 part 2: Bowser –
It’s time for the Koopa King himself! He attacks by spitting fireballs, and leaping around the arena. To hit him, when he is about to shoot a big fireball, throw an Egg at his stomach, and then when he bends over in pain, throw another Egg at his face. Now once he has fallen over, Ground Pound his stomach, do this 5 times to defeat the Koopa King.
Kamek’s Castle 8-8 part 3: Final Boss –
The final battle between Bowser Jr, Kamek, and Giant Bowser! Bowser Jr attacks the same way as he did before, except now there is no paneled floor to ricochet his Ground Pounds. The same goes with Kamek, he attacks the same way, except he no longer summons Thwomps. But they both have force fields again! What you need to do is dispatch Kamek first, because if you get rid of Bowser Jr’s force field first, Kamek will immediately give him another one. So to get rid of Kamek, you have to play a waiting game, every once and a while, Bowser will punch the Wall he is behind, causing rubble to fall from the ceiling, once he does this, get Kamek to follow you so that he gets hit by a piece of rubble, which will crack his force field, repeat that again to break the field, then hit him twice with an Egg to defeat him. Now for Bowser Jr, to break his force field, do the same thing you did to break Kamek’s. Once Jr’s field is gone, hit him with an Egg to knock him over, then Ground Pound his stomach, now repeat to defeat…him. Now that they are both gone, all that’s left is Giant Bowser, who you’ve gone and got all P’d. He breaks the wall in the background, revealing the rest of his body. He also shoots three huge fireballs that obliterate the ground, leaving only two parts of floor left to stand on! To hit him, use the same strategy as you did when he was small, wait until he is about to shoot the three huge fireballs again, then shoot a Big Egg at his stomach, then again at his face, now GET THE HECK OFF THE FLOOR AND ONTO THE PLATFORMS ON THE WALLS!! The reason you need to do this is because once you hit his face with an Egg, he is gonna fall right onto the floor. When he falls, jump up to the highest platform, then Flutter Jump over on to Bowser’s nose, now Ground Pound it, do this 3 more times to truly defeat the great Koopa King!
Whoo! That was A LOT of stuff!
If you guys are reading this part then Thank You for reading to the end!
Feel free to tell me what you thought in the replies!
