Noozes and Cherbils are really similar to eachother. I guess they are in appearance, but I think it's pretty clear that Noozes are supposed to look like Mario's and Luigi's noses (what with the tan color and the mustache feet and whatnot) whereas Cherbils are supposed to resemble... something closer to the other end. If I recall correctly, Tippi briefly ponders where a Cherbil's gas could come from. When she recognizes their body shape, she's quite disturbed. |

Personally, I just thought they looked like clouds.
It's not too far fetched to believe that they fling smoke at you to attack.
