from? Because their backstories are pastiches of real world style historical character biographies, but don't make a whole lot of sense when applied to the Mushroom World. Where did say, Sir Weston or Vincent van Gore live when alive? Heck, since most are human, where's this obviously human filled location where most must have lived their former lives?
It's certainly not Mushroom City.

The dog's name mispelling was just a typo/mistake. Let it go already.

I always assumed that they were portraits that later became ghosts through the Boos' power. I mean, considering what Van Gore can apparently do, it doesn't seem like a huge logical leap. Now it seems like the Gameboy Horror backstories contradict that, but consider Bogmire. It's "a product of the mansion's fear and despair", right? And yet, the boos just created the mansion, and Gadd had the painting before they did so. So I would assume that the GBH backstories are false, or at least not trustworthy. P.S. You still haven't answered me about why you misspelled Poochy's name. E. Gadd says his portraits were ghosts he hunted during his past 40 years of life (that'd mean Mario and Luigi are in their 40's, but I doubt AlphaDreams thought of this when making PiT). So... And, Bogmire... I guess E. Gadd captured one (assuming Bogmires are a species, as they are made from the fear and despair of a bunch of ghosts) and when King Boo released it in the mansion's graveyard, it kept growing due to the mansion's fear and despair (not that anyone really fears or despairs anything in there). Or maybe that Bogmire appeared after E. Gadd had captured 20 portrait ghosts, but got captured too.
