Okay, this has been bugging me for a while now: What exactly are Flower Points and Bros Points?
I mean, obviously it's a numerical representaion of how many Special Attacks that Mario can do, but what's the underlying logic behind it? How is it that your battle partners can dip into your reserves to do their own techniques? When Bowser does a Special Attack, does he use up his stamina, or his minions'? And where do Bros Items fit into all this?
Explain below! >_<;

Well, if it's anything like other RPGs, Flower Points and Bros. Points probably both indicate mana or chi or whatever you want to call it. Syrups and other items just happen to naturally refill one's "mana".
Bros. Items in Partners in Time ran out because you actually did carry that much of each item.
Bowser's Inside Story is a little hard to explain because both the Bros. and Bowser have special attacks that technically should be in increments (items and minions, respectively) but instead appear to be powered by "mana" like inherent special attacks.

I always thought that Bros. Points, Special Points and Flower Points were indicating stamina, including for Bowser's Special Points which are actually his minions' general stamina.

Okay, good. But that doesn't explain how in SMRPG and the Paper Mario series how multiple characters have a collective amount of FP, and then when one person uses it up, it affects everyone else.

Perhaps you and your partner's special moves also fatigue the other into losing the same amount of Flower Points?

Well, say if I run a lap, and you just sit and watch me, are you out of breath as well as me?
No. Where is the logic in Collective Flower Points?

Maybe Mario uses his energy to let his partners attack in a stronger way?

Okay, I can live with that.
But then again, how can they "heal" FP by having drinks when it's all Mario's energy?

I think it would've been a bit too complicated to give the partner its own FP. After all, Mario's the main point of the battle, the partner is just there to assist him. Everyone has a separate BP / SP in the Mario & Luigi series but, here, everyone is a main character (well, I'm talking about Mario, Luigi, the babies and Bowser). Intelligent Systems didn't bother with giving separate FPs to Mario's partners because, well, they are just his partner, they aren't exactly worth it.

Bros Points and Flower Points don't exist in the real Marioverse. Those are just game mechanics like side scrolling and the level timers.

Well, say if I run a lap, and you just sit and watch me, are you out of breath as well as me? No. Where is the logic in Collective Flower Points? How about this: The party pulls of special attacks by drawing in the raw energy (or mana) around them. Collective Flower points represent the energy field surrounding the party, and it's depleted every time a member of the party taps into it. Sure, if you personally ran a lap, your friend getting tired wouldn't make sense. But, if you and your friend were trapped in an isolated area with limited oxygen, you using a greater amount of oxygen would most certainly affect him as well.

Quite a lot, actually.
