I realize it's completely separate from the main series, so I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about this: Does Yoshi's Touch and Go retcon SMW2?
And is Yoshi's Safari canon at all? What about Tetris Attack?
I'm probably asking for a lot expecting legitimate answers to how canon a Mario game is, but I might as well try :^P
EDIT: why did I post this is biology what is wrong with me
plz move this to the appropriate place
sorry

Yoshi Touch & Go is just a mini-game version of Yoshi's Island plot. The only story difference is that, well, it doesn't end.
Yoshi's Safari has no reasons to be non-canon. Actually the rock structure on which Bowser's Castle is located in that game re-appears in Super Mario RPG and Mario Power Tennis. Tetris Attack is just Panel de Pon with Yoshi characters and was released in Japan as some special limited game or something, and even then it was just called "Yoshi's Panel de Pon" (... or something like that). It's weird anyway.
Well, it's just my thoughts.

So Bowser's Castle from those games mentioned is in Jewlry Land or what not?

Nah. I think Bowser's army just moved the whole castle and rock structure to the Mushroom Kingdom. After all they did that during the ending parade of Super Mario RPG.

The ending parades probably aren't canonical. The Smithy Gang show up in the end of Super Mario RPG even though they were all clearly killed.

Clearly ? They just cartoon-ishly exploded. People did that in Mario Party 3 too. Hell, even in Mario Sports Mix. It just meant they were beaten. If you really want an in-universe excuse, maybe Smithy teleported away after his so-called "explosion", and the current Smithy Gang are just "Machine Made"s. Even the Blade looks reconstructed. And the Axem Rangers don't appear again, THEY were clearly killed.
Oh, and the parade is to celebrate Mario's victory. It's supposed to be part of the story.

I'm still a bit on the fence about the canonicity of Yoshi's Safari... I have a hard time believing it to be canon, probably because of the Super Scope...

Well, the original Wario Land was on the Virtual Boy, and yet we think of that game as canon.
Canonocity isn't exactly determined by console.

I don't think Virtual Boy Wario Land is considered canon anways

Why not? I don't own a VB myself, but from what I've read, Virtual Boy Wario Land was the only good game for the system. Aside from that, at least the plot makes sense.

There is nothing that prevents VB Wario Land from existing in between Wario Land 1 and Wario Land 2.
Yoshi's Safari seems perfectly canon to me.
Yoshi Touch & Go is, like Koopalmier said, an abridged version of Yoshi's Island.
Tetris Attack is likely one of the many random instances of modern-day Bowser attacking Yoshi's home, much like Yoshi Topsy-Turvy.

Why does Wario Land VB have to be between the first two games? Bar maybe the power ups being about the same, it could have come anywhere in the series. Heck, the plane he uses reminds me more of Mario and Wario.

Why shouldn't it take it take place between the first two games? That IS when it was released. Would putting it anywhere else be beneficial in any sort of way?

No, but it's just a question with no right answer.

Just because it came out in that order doesn't mean that is where it goes on the timeline. No, it really isn't beneficial to put it anywhere else, its just that we don't know where it goes at all so we shoudn't just assume that it takes place between the first two games.

Well, here's how it goes IMO, from most important source to least important source: - When it's directly stated in-game or in the Japanese version of the manual (i.e. Super Mario Land 2 is a direct sequel to the first game) - When it's not directly stated but it's hinted (i.e. New Super Mario Bros. Wii happens a short time before Super Mario Galaxy) - Release date order (i.e. Super Mario Bros. 3 happens after The Lost Levels and before Super Mario Land) - Theories
