While I agree Sonic X sucked, I liked Hoshi no Kaabii (I'm not going to use the English name because that localization shouldn't have existed). :/
What I'd like: - Mario & Luigi series made into an anime (following the artworks' art style) - Paper Mario series made into mangas (not Super Mario-kun-like mangas) - Main series made into 3D movies (Super Mario Bros. and The Lost Levels within the same movie, and other events happening aside from the action - because a 2 hours long action movie with little to no plot isn't fun)

My thoughts on what a TV series should be:
1. Similar in style to at least part of the actual series. Don't care which part, but your TV series should ideally look the same quality as the games, if not better. No cheap animation, no stupid Western cartoon/anime tricks and no wildly inappropriate custom style.

Above: There's a difference between animation and 'PowerPoint presentation'. The above is about as cheap as you can get, and looks dreadful.
2. No live action. We've had four shots at this (the movie, Super Show segments, ice capades and King Koopa's Kool Kartoons), and they're either so bad it's good (the Super Show) or so bad it's horrible (most of the rest). Avoid this basically:
3. Some accuracy to the games. This is key, most attempts at going all different have ended up with horrible stories that are ripped from existing works. The movie would arguably have been better as a non Mario themed one, the Super Show was a bunch of parodies of well known series, the Amada series was about the same as the Super Show except Japanese, the anime movie introduced all kinds of awful original characters with no place in the movie and well... as you can see from above and 'Club Mario', many of the attempts at 'series' were about as non loyal to be classed as in name only. How hard can 'Bowser kidnaps the Princess Peach' be to translate into a storyline? I mean, the original shows had the excuse of only having about two games to adapt, but with hundreds of Mario games and thousands of Mario characters, you shouldn't have to make an original character ever again if you do the research. If all fails, take side characters from minor games nobody cares about and treat them a bit like original characters... such as the one offs from Wario Land/Ware/Master of Disguise, the RPG series townfolk and nobodies and heck, the kings from Super Mario Bros 3. Give them a personality and some role, and hey, you've got your 'original' character, except Mario fans won't be petitioning to have you burnt at the stake for it.
4. Do the research. Bowser is not called 'Kerog', and he's not called 'King Koopa' at least any more. Oh, and don't be like the movie here and assume 'Koopa' is the name of the bad guy and 'Bowser' is the name of the Mushroom King, it makes you look like a complete moron.
5. The Mushroom Kingdom is not mainly barren desert. Yes, the original games had limited decoration due to being on the NES, but check out the updated versions in Super Mario All Stars, where the kingdom looks more lush and less Mushroomy Kingdom from Brawl.
6. Have the actual voice actors from the games, notably Charles Martinet. I mean, he voices Mario and most others in all regions, there should be no excuse for using some two bit Mario impressionist who sounds nothing like the 'real' one.
7. Give it to Nintendo to oversee, like the Pokemon anime, which, like it or not, is at least half decent and a bit loyal to the game series, yet different enough to be interesting.
8. Game music and no cheesy original songs.

If there has to be a new Mario animated series, then it has to be exactly like the intros of Mario Golf Toadstool Tour and Mario Power Tennis. I wouldn't mind CGI-animated, though.
Those intros were far more entertaining than the games themselves.

Why is this its own point? Shouldn't it be lumped in with No. 3 about accuracy?
