Okay... I needed to post this. Why cant Mario and Luigi, the people who practically MADE Nintendo what it is today, have a TV series?
I mean all the other video game characters have a TV series! Donkey Kong had one! (Donkey Cong Country) Kirby has one! (Kirby: Right Back at Ya!) Sonic has had 4! (Sonic X, Sonic Underground, Sonic the Hedgehog and The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog etc...) Zelda had one (The Legend of Zelda) so WHY CANT MARIO AND LUIGI HAVE ONE?!
They DID have a series though back in the early 90's. (The Super Mario Bros. Super Show) which I was TOO YOUNG TO SEE!! They're giving everyone else a series, so why cant they have one? Its driving me NUTS!!
Let me know what you guys think.

I heard once a while back that Miyamoto has no plans of ever letting a Mario show be made. (I belive it was from an interview with Charles Martinet) I just figure it's because they already tried that 3 times before and the fact that the continuity would be near impossible to figure out. It's a shame though. With the cost of decent CGI animation being so low these days, it wouldn't be that hard to make. Heck, if they put in half the effort they put into the pokemon series, it would still be a great show. Anyway, if a show was ever made, I would sincerely hope it would be something like this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=YoZ_Mwc7lNE*get's off soapbox*

Mario already had 3 TV series. It's already enough. I first thought you were talking about a TV series made by the company who created the games (or at least where the creators collaborated in making the series) like Sonic X, POKéMON, F-Zero... but then I saw you mentionned the Sonic cartoons. A Mario animated series would only be good if Nintendo has something to do with it. But that'll never happen.

When I read the title, I was like "New show! New Show!" But then I read the thing and I was like "No show... No show..."

When I read the title, I was like "New show! New Show!" But then I read the thing and I was like "No show... No show..." Oh geez, I should probably change that, shouldn't I? I didn't mean to get your hopes up! Can you ever forgive me! ;-: But, I don't see why a new Mario show wouldn't work. I think that they could learn from the mistakes of their past. Also, I feel that technology has come quite a long way and would help production, not hurt it. Also, I completely agree, it should TOTALLY be like Mario Tennis. I always found it so funny that the tennis series, of all games, is really where the characters/stories come out!

Misleading title D: I was thinking the same thing this morning. It could be based on Paper Mario, Super Mario RPG, Mario & Luigi, Super Mario Sunshine, ect. Just pretty loosely, like the Sonic X game adaptations were. Mario and Luigi wouldn't speak except for short lines, like normal, either. It could probably be anime but I'd love to see it in CGI. But sadly it probably won't happen anytime soon...

A cartoon based on the RPGs.
I would give my left leg for that. Bonus right leg for Galaxy 1 and 2.

If I made a new Mario cartoon, I'd make it like that old Donkey Kong Country show where everything is cheesy, every episode has a song, and the voices don't fit the characters sometimes. Actually, that's how the older Mario cartoons were, but with a heavy dose of total idiocy in the earlier seasons. And did any of you guys ever see a Saturday Supercade Donkey Kong episode, by any chance?

If I were in charge of a new Mario cartoon, here's how I'd do it:
1. Handrawn animation. Like the originals, but with effort. (I'm looking at you, Indiana Jones parody episode)
2. No cheesy songs, i.e. Bigmouth's song in the "Mama Luigi" episode of SMW
3. Fitting voice cast. We don't need Charles Martinet, just someone who doesn't sound like Lou Albano.
4. Involve as many characters as possible. Think about it, there could be sequences of Wario and the gang in Diamond City, the Kongs on DK Island, and (my favorite idea) an episode revolving entirely around Fawful. Which brings us to point #5...
5. Keep the personalities. Waluigi should be a hopeless loser, Mario an unwavering hero, Luigi semi-cowardly, DK laid back, Fawful MUST speak like he does in the English versions of the games he's in, etc.
6. Soundtrack needs to be sampled from the games.
And that's only the necessities!

But the bad animation was the best part!

But the bad animation was the best part! Yes, but we've already had it. It'd be really neat to see them do a really good job on the animation. Like I said before, I think the technology could help them in this effort. SMBMaster-I completely agree. It'd be great to see some of the "lesser" characters like Fawful interact with the all-stars of the series. Uh, I'd suggest starting a petition but we all know internet petitions are NOT serious business.

More on my list:
-No -insert item/food here- Lands. Pasta Land? Car Land? Frickin' Rap Land!?
- Episodes can coincide with parts of games, telling abridged versions of their stories. The "Mama Luigi" episode did this perfectly, and I'd love to see this with other games.
- Live-action segments = NO

I honestly liked the live action segments. Oh well. I do agree the "Super Show" had a lot of completley idiotic locations, and half of the episodes or so actually took place on Earth for some reason, which became utterly bizarre when you also got episodes that took place on the Mushroom World in places obviously based off of those on Earth. And they kept calling Earth the "real world", for some reason.

Mario already had 3 TV series. It's already enough. No, it isn't. Because, none of them have yet to do the Marioverse justice... Sonic X, Kirby: Right Back at Ya!, and the Pokemon anime have managed to do that. I really think there should be a Mario cartoon to do that as well.

You just said that Sonic X and Kirby: Right Back At Ya! did their respective series justice. O_______O.

^ I know. Because, they did. Not their dubs by 4Kids, mind you. I'm talking about their original Japanese versions. If you're a Sonic or Kirby fan, they're great shows.

The Kirby show was barely even about Kirby, though! It was about some annoying girl thing.

Both Sonic X and Kirby sucked, and I'm saying this as someone who moderately enjoyed the Kirby anime.
Were I to do a new Mario cartoon, I'd have it be like the intros to Mario Golf TT and Mario Power Tennis. Granted, if left to my devices I'd have it be traditional instead of CGI, but you know what would happen.
