Syrup Castle the worst possible decision to anyone else? Really, the bright pink and purple colouring made the place look more of a joke than menacing, and is actually kind of eye straining in my personal opinion (especially if you're trying to rip sprite graphics from the level)  ^That's just not a very good colour scheme for a villain castle. The boss battle room was fine, but the above just looks... garish to me. |

While the purple is cool (it does represent afterlife in Japan after all, and it thus used for "scary" things - that's why Rayman's colors were changed from purple to blue) the pink doesn't do it at all. Grey or black may have been better IMO. But, hey, colors limitation. They went with purple and didn't want the background to merge with the level. I could as wel mention the lack of light on the console.

The Final Chapter in Wario Land 2 was actually pretty disturbing for all the wrong reasons. You had black eggs making up the level, with pink walls made of flesh in the background, that had dead enemies stuck in them and even ears, noses, mouths, and eyes growing out of the wall. That Syrup is just effed up in the head.
