Another new pet theory of mine regarding Donkey Kong Country Returns is this, that the Golden Temple is a gateway to the Mushroom World, that DK Isle and other locations are outside this realm and it's how DK and co reach the spinoff game areas. It seems possible as well Jungle Beat was set here, and it would nicely wipe that insult to the series from continuity. So what's my evidence? Well, look at the unused concept art. One was a Super Mario Bros 3 style level, and another seemingly took place in Subcon. The second one is this, can't find the first online: Looks familiar, doesn't it? This would explain a few things, such as why the Golden Temple level has all the floating objects, platforms and ridiculous outsized gimmicky fruit, unheard of in Donkey Kong Country proper. It would explain Jungle Beat's weirdness. And why Mario elements are rarely if ever seen in the Donkey Kong series. Finally, it'd be an interesting twist in that instead of visiting our version of Earth, Mario would have visited the weird, DKC and Rare version in the arcade days. Is this possible?

Nice theory! Except for the fact that it was locked and underground in the beginning of DKCR, but that could also have been because of the Tikis... but everyone acts like they've never seen the temple before. It certainly would be a good explanation for everything, but since everything points to it being hidden since ancient times, I don't think it's likely DK and Diddy could use it several times a year.

What Artemendo said.
At the time of DKCR, the Golden Temple has just been discovered, and is actually nothing more than a rumor. The only way to go in that other dimension is to eat a part of the Giant Golden Banana, too. Maybe that Retro originally wanted it to be a dimensional gateway to the MK but scrapped the idea (maybe because Miyamoto sees all his characters as being in the same world, and because it'd make the continuity a bit more complicated for no reason too). Man, I never saw that concept art. It makes me reget they didn't use it.
After all, it'd make sense that it's Nintendo who didn't allow them to do that. I mean, Retro takes two Nintendo series which are originally in the same world, and tell us it's actually two different worlds. Nintendo must have not liked that idea.

Okay, I must be the only one here who thinks the Golden Temple's Fruit World is where Jungle Beat took place. Think about it. Jungle Beat was wacky, weird, full of fruit, and overall crazy. So is the Golden Temple!

That could only be true if there was another way to access the Golden Temple's World that isn't through the Golden Temple.

So is the Golden Temple! While I do believe the Golden Temple was based on Jungle Beat, I also think that they are in different locations. Maybe that the "new wackiness" of DK Island in Jungle Beat was due to the monsters and heavy amounts of magic going around due to that (which is unusual for DK Island) ? Or maybe that the civilization who inhabited the island long ago and put all these floating fruits there sealed itself in the Golden Temple, or comes from it ?
