Anyone who's played DKC Returns knows that, among other characters, the Kremlings aren't around. Instead, we have the Tikis. One thing that the game doesn't metion about the Tiki Tak Tribe is their backstory. All we really know for sure about them is that they were sealed in a volcano, but there's bound to be more than that.
So, any interesting theories on these wooden adversaries?

Well their life force seems to be bananas. My guess on their origin is that they used to live on the island (where they ate all the bananas.) until the four guardians of the island (Dread Kong, Ninja Kong, Sumo Kong, and that last guy fighting style Kong) sealed them inside the Volcano.

Well, they are entirely made out of wood, and the final battle background looks very... mystical. It's shadows of savana animals running.
My theory is that, very long ago, the Ancients created the Tikis so that, when the world would become too hi-tech, the Tikis would turn it back to natural so that the world wouldn't die. For that, they created multiple Tiki Tongs, which they divided into Tiki Taks and hide in some volcanoes around the planet. When the right time would come, the Tik Tong would recreate himself by using a perfectly natural source - bananas - and he would destroy any form of technology. However, ironically, during DKCR, the Tikis had to steal a factory to squash the bananas. The Tikis under DK Island's volcano came out prematurely, and they were stopped by DK and Diddy anyways.

Let's not forget they seem to be made either from not-wood, or some sort of extremely enchanted wood, because they do not burn up from fire, in fact, setting them on fire makes them more powerful and invulnerable to many attacks. I, for one, find it extremely ironic how a species of "wooden" instruments come from an environment where normal wood is incapable of existing.
Heh... now that I think about it, crocodiles are animals of warm regions, but the Kremlings live, among others, in the boreal climates of the Northern Kremisphere. I guess this is a running joke in the series.

SMG has penguins in space beaches. I think it is a running joke.
Also, what's with your avatar ? I mean, where is it from ?

SMG has penguins in space beaches. I think it is a running joke. Also, what's with your avatar ? I mean, where is it from ? There is a kind of penguins living exactly at the equator. This is unusual, but not as absurd as wooden creatures living in a volcano. My avatar is... related to something I plan to work on after I finish my current school work. I don't want to spoil it yet! But if you wonder whether I made it myself, yes, I did. I also plan to do many other characters in that style, do you like it?

I think it's funny. What kind of project is that ? Like, a comic series ? Or something Waluigious-related ? Not that I want to know what it is (it'd be a spoiler) I'm curious about if it's going to be interesting.

Don't you have an Art Thread, though? Put it there.

Don't you have an Art Thread, though? Put it there. Sorry, I didn't want to hijack the topic. I'll make a new one for this project once it gets underway. Back to the Tikis. Are those decorations on them feathers or leaves? They kind of look like both.

Uh... nope. Although that Luigi looks awesome. Back on-topic, I think these are... decorative leafs ? Thank you very much! Um... not clear? Let's see... Luigi... waffle... where did Luigi have to do with waffles... maybe he went to a place where there are a lot of them... like maybe some kingdom... Maybe they are the feathers of the leaf bird, or the leaves of the feather tree... something like that. Some Tiki structures from the Volcano also appear in the Forest, like the many totems. They don't look like they have recently invaded, on the contrary, they look like they've always been there. I wonder why.

In an attempt to keep this on topic, I had an idea about the Tikis.
Perhaps the Tikis were the original rulers of Donkey Kong Island? They must've done something...bad somewhere down the line, causing them to be cursed as Tikis and sealed into a volcano.
General Thoughts:
-Tikis weren't always tikis.
-lived on DK Island, built Temples and cities (Ruins and Volcano)
-Somehow had life energy stored in bananas, cursed as tikis. (Upset the gods/spirits/ancients?)
-Volcano gets sealed under ice (Gorilla Glacier), time passes...
-Volcano erupts, Tikis run wild.
sorry if this post is unorganized, i don't have much time with computers much anymore, in a hurry.

There ae many Tiki-like totems and ruins around the island, which may mean they always were Tikis. Also, there are Tikis in World 9, which could mean multiple things: - They are the creators of the Golden Temple. - They come from another dimension and took over the island long ago, but where eventually sealed inside the volcano by another civilization (the Kongs ?).
But the theory that they are the original inhabitants of the island makes sense. Now, what was their plan already ? They wanted to fuse with Tiki Tong, but what was Tiki Tong's plan ? I'm still going with my theory. The background of Tiki Tong's battle isn't evil, it's shadows of animals running, that's why I'm thinking the Tikis only care about nature.

On the subject of the Golden Temple...is there any possibility that's where Jungle Beat took place?

In Jungle Beat, the four "new" Kongs attack DK Island and try to take over it. DK goes through each part of the island (which was given to a "king" monster) and eventually kick their butts, only to learn that there's a true villain behind this (and kick that villain's butt too). The Golden Temple level is in another dimension.

There ae many Tiki-like totems and ruins around the island, which may mean they always were Tikis. ...Or, they merely worshiped Tikis and built statues in their honor?

Well... I'm not exactly sure what their back story is, but I think that those nine Tikis that possess the bosses in the game could possibly be Tiki Tong's children :U maybe they were the original inhabitants of the island but then the Kongs came to the island and sealed them in the volcano.
