Is it okay to post non-Mario game ideas in here? Well, here goes anyway:
F-Zero has been quite a dead series for a long time, but looking at its characters, I've decided that (as a spin-off of some kind), it should be a fighting game. Forget racing, just look at all these guys.
Now, rather than going the Capcom approach about it, I'd rather take a cue from Tekken or Soul Calibur on this one. The gameplay would be arranged similarly to those two, of course. Uses either the Classic Controller or the Wii Remote + Nunchuk (eh, well...) to play.
While I can't really come up with full-blown movesets for each character, I'll give you the basic gist of what their fighting styles are like:
Captain Falcon: Basic well-rounded punches and kicks, and sometimes that grrr gun in his holster already (Also not the way it was in Smash Bros. Take that, nerds. )
Dr. Stewart: Similar to Captain Falcon, but swifter
Pico: He's said to have a whole load of guns...
Samurai Goroh: Stronger punches and kicks, and occasionally his katana
Jody Summer: More on the acrobatic side, and sometimes a blaster of her own
Mighty Gazelle: Uses his robotic transformations and other weapons of that sort
Mr. EAD: Burly attacks and body slams, and sometimes a few Mario-based moves (Most moves he makes even have SMB1 sound effects, especially when jumping)
Octoman: Using his many arms/tentacles, mainly to grab/entangle his opponents
Bio Rex: Being a dinosaur, this should be straightforward (Could be kinda similar to Riptor from Killer Instinct)
Dr. Clash: Uses his many gadgets and gizmos to attack
Super Arrow: Similar to Captain Falcon and a bit stronger, sometimes using his bird to attack
Mrs. Arrow: Similar to Jody and a bit stronger
Michael Chain: Basically the game's boxer
The Skull: Using ghastly attacks and sometimes supersonic noise to put his opponents on ice
John Tanaka: Possibly a martial artist
Gomar & Shioh: Sticking together and fighting together all the time
Baba: Using capoeira techniques
Silver Neelsen: Although old and senile, he'll still try his best to put up a fight. Intended as the resident joke character
Zoda: Mostly uses crazy, sinister weapons of his own
Black Shadow: Basically this game's M. Bison
Secret characters include the pilots from AX, Deathborn, and fellow F-Zero enthusiast BurgerKiller's custom-made F-Zero characters: burgerkiller.deviantart.com/gallery/?24166129#_24166129
Lily Flyer: Her military training could prove effective here...
Spade: Using a bunch of magic tricks to attack, with cards and what-not
Don Genie: As a mafia lord, using a few guns and other such weapons
Dai Goroh: Watered down version of Goroh
Digi-Boy: Uses some of his gadgets and other junk to attack
Deathborn: The strongest of all the characters
Renji Oroboro: A ninja. Mmm, yeah...
Nate Hunter: An apparent corrupt cop, so...
Drake Soldero: Being a gang member, he'd use a few weapons like a crowbar and a handgun
Dr. Jiron: Fights similarly to Dr. Clash
Zanei: Fights like Deathborn (as a disciple of his), but a bit watered down in comparison
Eh, couldn't quite come up with all of them just yet (maybe later), but there's a few of them for now.
