Is there a way I can join the site as a writer? I would really like to post the chapters to my fan-fic on it (I think it would be more effective to post them in multiple places, rather than just fanfiction.net alone).

Wait a minute what.
You already started your story on FanFiction.net?
Link, please!

Excuse me for the brashness, but there is no place for fan fiction on Waluigious, except maybe short one-article stuff to illustrate a philosophical point. No stories! I tried a comic once and it wasn't a success, and seriously, Waluigious is about observations, not about making up your own stuff, that's missing the point.
Sorry again, and please don't think I'm being mean. But I have not posted my own fan fiction on there either, so it's not like I have a double standard. It's just about what the site represents, and fan fiction is not part of it.

Ah, I see. That's totally fine. I'd just never thoroughly gone through the site (it operates very slowly for me, for some reason), so I wasn't sure about its content or major objective. I found these forums through a link on TMK. But, I totally respect your site's integrity. I'll find some other site.

Oh, sorry, my co-writer cheat-master30 likes to embed videos and they might be slowing the front page down a bit for you.
Hm, or if it's every page, it might be the blogging host's fault...
Anyway, thank you very much for your understanding. Who knows, maybe someday Waluigious will have a fan fiction section and I'll come begging to you to let me have your story!

But by that time, he'll have such a successful career as a writer, he won't even remember the little people such as us.
Arte: Umm... Hello there... Mr. 1-Up... Can I... uh... could you allow me to host your "Chronicles of the Mushroom Kingdom" Fanfic on my site?
1-Up: I'm sorry, who are you?

lol
That would be awesome! I would totally be a pompous jerk, too.
But, seriously, you guys are helping me create this thing. I'm definitely not gonna forget you. ^_^ (In fact, once I start posting the chapters online, I'm gonna make sure to have an acknowledgments section, along with a plug for these forums).

Unfortunately, as Artemendo said, Waluigious is no place for fan fiction (or fan work in general). Where to post your work... is a difficult question though, since Fan Fiction.net has never really had much of a Mario fanbase, and many good sites which could have been places to post it have shut down over the last few years... Maybe Lemmy's Land? You know, lemmykoopa.com/?Oh, sorry, my co-writer cheat-master30 likes to embed videos and they might be slowing the front page down a bit for you. Also about this topic, I was almost expecting you to ask whether you could become a co-writer at Waluigious from the title.

^ I think you got your quote and your response flipped around. lol
And fanfiction.net has pretty sizable number of Mario fan-fics. I just wanted to post my fan-fic on multiple sites to boost its popularity. The bigger the audience the better!

FFFFFFFFFF no. That place is an insult to any decent artist. The crap that gets accepted there, I- Ah never mind. Anyway, I would recommend DeviantArt. They do in fact have a fan-fiction category and there's plenty of a Mario fanbase.

I would never visit DeviantArt for writing without an explicit link, so I don't know if it would do you any good for building an audience. The last time I visited LL - for the writing, not the art - I was not at all impressed, and the site itself made me wonder if I'd fallen into a time hole to 1997 (except without an apocalypse). However, it wasn't worse than FF.net, just bad in a different way.
The Koopatorivm used to host fanfics, but the site's been down for half a year.

Good to know we're helping, 1up! Yeah, the Koopatorivm would've been great. Too bad it's gone...

I don't like LL's policies on fanfiction as the rules are too strict and some of the fanfics there are rubbish and too insane also. I've visited Waluigious a few times but still don't really understand it. The navigation looks really complicated and its difficult to find what you're looking for. Who exactly is this Artemendo?

Waluigious is a blog, and it navigates just like almost any other blog. You just go to the "Blog Archive" point in the sidebar and choose the article you want to read. Artemendo, i.e. me, is just some Mario nerd guy who likes writing in-depth Mario articles. I do not claim to have had the first philosophical Mario blog, I think that would have been Coin Heaven (which is now sadly dead) - but mine is the first philosophy-ONLY blog, meaning it has no news. News really clutters up a site and is better left to specialized sources like GoNintendo.

Waluigious isn't just the only Mario philosophy ONLY blog, but the only one with Mario philosophy type content in period. Coin Heaven has long closed, and all imitators of Waluigious have perished. It's also the only Mario blog with what I'd consider actual philosophy, Coin Heaven to me is more like either literary analysis or fanon debates rather than any deep philosophical questions. I don't think news is only best left to specialised sources, but I have a personal reason to say that.

About news, you know, I of course agree that not all news should be left to news aggregators, but... those are the ones that will get the info first-hand, or sent to them by a contributor, while all that Waluigious can do is reword and repost news that have themselves been reposted several times. This is "blogging clutter", people reposting news and basically pounding on a bit of info so long everyone is sick of it. I'd rather have Waluigious not take part in this.
This is also a matter of the intended audience. I rely on our readers to be savvy Mario fans. I see no point of telling them Mario Party 2 came out on VC or whatever, since they most likely have heard this about 573 times elsewhere.
