A remake of both Super Mario Bros. 2 and Yume Kojo: Doki Doki Panic, you see ?
It'd be both a remake and a mix of both games.
Obviously, the story would be a bit different.
Title: Super Mario's Dream Factory (US and EU) / Super Mario USA: Doki Doki Panic! (JAP)
Platform: Wii
Style: Action - Platforming
Number of players: From 1 to 4
[Note: Mario characters are in the usual 3D, while Yume Kojo characters are hand-drawn, anime style. And the universe is made of a mix of both: the first-plan objects are anime-like while the background is more like NSMBW's]
Story: Super Mario Bros. 2's backstory, but as a cutscene - thus we see the events. Then Doki Doki Panic's first cutscene. The Mario characters and the Yume Koji characters accidentaly meet: Mario and co.learn that children have been kidnapped and taken to Subcon, while Imajin and co. learn that Subcon's inhabitants have been captured by the evil Wart. Both teams decide to cooperate to save the children, the Subcons, and to defeat Wart.
Playable characters: Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad, Imajin, Mama, Lina, Papa
Playing style: Sideway Wiimote (à la Super Paper Mario)
Controls: Run (1), Take (1), Throw (1), Jump (2), and Super Mario Bros. Wii's moveset (only for Mario characters)
There are many differences and similarities between Mario and Yume Kojo characters.
First, the Mario Team gameplay is a mix of Super Mario Bros. 2's and New Super Mario Bros. Wii's, while the Imajin Team gameplay is only Super Mario Bros. 2's, thus the Yume Kojo characters make the game harder.
That aside, Mario and Imajin are all-around, Luigi and Mama jump high but are harder to control, Peach and Lina can float in the air, and Toad and Papa can take out vegetables fast.
From the Character Selection screen, you can choose any of the 8 characters.
The "Overworld" music's style also changes depending of your character:
- Mario: It's the SNES version's.
- Luigi: It's rather jazzy.
- Peach: It's girly and a bit fast paced.
- Toad: It's a bit slow paced and has an electric guitar.
- Imajin: It's the NES (Famicom) version's.
- Mama: It's orchestrated.
- Lina: It's techno.
- Papa: It's mid-oriental.
The game retains all the changes of the GBA version. It also features 4-players multiplayer (à la NSMBW) and three worlds are added (one between the original's World 6 and World 7 - making the old World 7 the current World 8) (one acts as a World 9, with a small storyline where Warts tries to take over Subcon again ; and the last one acts as a Bonus World which is in the Mushroom Kingdom).
Note that, after getting all Yoshi Eggs, you get the possibility to ride Yoshi in any level.
Ending: SMB2's ending. However, you then see Mario waking up again. Then another cutscene comes, where we see the Mario team saying farewell to the Imajin team, while they come back to their world. Then the real credits roll in.
It'd be both a remake and a mix of both games.
