Confusion is running rampant in my mind right now , of course we all knew that Donkey Kong from the original game is Cranky in DKC, but is the DK we all know and love the Cranky in Donkey Kong Country Returns? In the Instruction Booklet, Cranky tells the player of Rolling in his days as a Hero, which seems to imply that he is the Donkey Kong Country DK, but he could just be referring to the incident with Mario; Perhaps, from Cranky's point of view, he was the hero, and Mario was the villain... What do you all think? Should the Manuals even be considered Canon? Is he old DK, or is it the same, old Cranky Kong? Thoughts?

From Cranky's point of view, he indeed was the hero and Mario was the villain. But this is a clear reference to DKC.
I see the manuals as being canon, but it depends. DKCR was made in America, so I see its American manual as being the canon one.

Oh, wait. Cranky refers to how DK's Banana Hoard keeps getting stolen, in-game, so I guess the manual thing was just a joke. Cranky is senile, anyway.

Hmmm... I am still confused! The game contradicts the manual!
...Or he really was referring to his battle with Mario. I don't really think he's senile, per say, he still seems pretty wise for an old grouch.

Wise ? He says nonsense (i.e. "I had my own game before ! It was called "Cranky Kong Country") most of the time, and has a gigantic ego ("I would have beaten this game with a single life") with that. I think it's safe to say he's senile. He didn't do any rolling attack in Donkey Kong 94 either. He was clearly referring to Donkey Kong Country, but that's a joke as he's like the old, grouchy guy who says that only retro games are good.

Well, we didn't SEE him do any rolling attack in DK'94, it's still a possibility that it occured, but, due to graphical limitations, we didn't see it. Like, I'd imagine in Super Mario Bros. that the clouds really didn't all look the same, and that the ground wasn't really made of blocks... But maybe that's just me.

If it was true(which I'm against), then the original Cranky would be dead.

I'm sory, but this is stupid. Cranky in DKCR is the same as the one in the original trilogy.
The End.
