One of the weirdest things about the Mario series is that it excels in the amount of princesses that it has, but for some reason, there isn't even a prince or two here and there.
Heck, I'm surprised that the Mushroom Kingdom doesn't even have one.
Don't even count the one at the end of the old anime movie. That was a sad one-shot not in a game who had absolutely nothing going for him.
Sure, we've got Prince Peasley of the Beanbean Kingdom and Prince Pikante from SMG2 (What does he rule over anyway? those persistent Octoombas?), but even their chances to show up more are screwed at best. Peasley was one of those one-shots with a LOT going for him, so I'd like to see more of him.
One game later on could use a Mushroom Kingdom prince who actually manages to stick to the series for a good long time. Or maybe a cosmic one to compliment Rosalina.
But rest assured, hasn't anybody else noticed this or found it rather peculiar or amusing? Once again, too much princess, not enough prince.

Don't forget the seven Koopa princes (and one Koopa princess). That wipes out the numerical disparity right there.
Moving on - I think it's heavily implied that Princess Peach is an only child, or her relatives would have shown up by now. Not even her father King Toadstool has appeared for many, many years, so I doubt she has any other living family. A Mushroom Kingdom prince would need to be Peach's husband, and we know how likely that is to happen. (And the husband-in-his-own-mind wouldn't claim that title anyhow.)
Prince Pine of Jewelry Land put in an appearance, but is unlikely to ever reappear.
Prince Mallow of Nimbus Land will never be seen again.
Squirps was a prince, though I don't know if he has a kingdom to return to.
Other than that, how many princesses are there? Princess Daisy has never gotten more development, Princess Eclair was never on screen, the Shroob princesses, and that's where my memory gives out. If anything, the unusual bit of the Mario series is the large number of ruling queens - and even then they're only about equal in number to ruling kings.
Edit: Maybe Bowser is the reason Peach hasn't married anyone yet. Her husband and his kingdom would immediately become the mortal enemy of the Koopa Kingdom, and nobody is willing to voluntarily sign their people up for getting their capital destroyed every few years.

Hey I wonder if Mario marries Princess Peach, wouldn't he become King? If so, then why hasn't he, and won't it be a little weird with him as King, instead of just hero?

For multiple reasons. 1-He has barely any time to date Peach. How could they ever become fiancees, or even married ? 2-Being a king = too much work. Do you think a random guy would want to become the president of his own country ? 3-A plumber. With a princess. Sounds strange. 4-If he becomes the king, he won't have to save the world anymore. He'll just have to send troops there. Knowing that Toad troops are epic failures, and that Mario loves adventuring, he'd gain nothing in all this.

Mario would still have to rescue her, I mean, he IS the hero. He HAS to be heroic. Video-Game Elementary, my dear Koopalmier(Sherlock Holmes Reference FTW!).
