The more I think about DKC Returns, the more I miss Kremlings. And being the Mariologist I am, I began wondering if Kremlings are all one species, or are they just a family of different, similar species?
And what of characters like Croco, or enemies like Crawfuls? Are they Kremlings?

They're a family,as much as the Koopas are - they're just too diverse to all be one species. (And thanks to a long history as a franchise, the Koopas are not a small family.)
I don't know about Croco or Crawfuls. They're certainly close enough in form to fit in, art style notwithstanding, but they're not specifically called out as Kremlings. Also, Croco's battle pose has him using his tail to balance his upper body and looks more like a dinosaur (which could be an intermediate step between Klaptraps and bipedal Kremlings - or Croco could be a separate branch closer to Yoshis).

Not really that similar but a little bit... then again all I can remember about Croco is that he is a purple dinosaur in a top hat that carries a bag around

Wait nevermind I just saw a picture of Croco and realized that he looks like more of a Yoshi croc mix
