I have been thinking? Why do we always attribute anything quirky in the MW to magic? After all, Mario is a science fantasy, because of its design. Another problem is this: Although most sources would have you believe otherwise, 1. Magic is not a natural thing 2. Any magic requires a user 3. Magic, by definition is a mostly bad thing (In most cultures, it usually refers to some kind of unnatural, rather than supernatural power). 4. Most of the time, in the series, magic is actually attributed to bad guys (magikoopas, bowser, the Shadow queen, the list goes on). There are rare cases where a good guy uses magic, but they are few and far between. Besides this, the mushroom kingdom is an alternate world. As anyone who has played D&D will tell you, different worlds can have different physical properties. So, why magic? Feel free to shoot down my theory with your super scopes. Ciao!

Well it is a proven fact that magic exists in Mario's world. But there seems to be two different kinds: classic magic and a more scientific magic (I guess you could call it "special powers")

Well, at this forum, we try to limit magic in the Marioverse, as that takes away from some of the fun.
Still, I understand you point. I don't think magic is used much at all, actually.

The very first game in the entire series revolves around and evil spell and the Princess' ability to break it.
"Not used much" my behonkiss.

I meant in things we could easily just call technology. Like Airships, they most likely run on a fuel source of some sort. Or the Magic Paintbrush, it probably has some kind of warp technology infused in it.
If you find any other holes in my theories, please point them out.

If you understand 'magic' and employ it to reliably do something, is it not technology?
Say what you will about Bowser's intelligence, but he sponsors the cutting edge of MW magitek.

Mario's world may be our's. After all the Kirby world is the same as our's yet Pop Star simply doesn't follow any logic.

I'd say it's a mix of both, because both traditional style magic and wizard type characters, and technology of the highest advanced degree appear commonly in the Mario series. Indeed, I think most of the tech is probably magiteck, considering the stuff powered by the Grand Stars and such.

Magitech...I like that. Alright, most "technology"has magic involved. I can live with that.

When I label something as Magic, there are two different types: 1)Traditional Magic:Like you said, requires a user, is usually evil, and is not natural. 2)Natural Magic:This is what I use to describe something that is natural in the MW, but supernatural in ours. The only proper word I know would be Magic. So, in other words, Blocks are not "Magic", they are natural occurrence, but because they seem supernatural to us, we label them so.

Since the MW has explicit magic, calling floating blocks and mushrooms that heal horrible injuries instantly "magic" is just going to lead to confusion. If they need a collective term, how about "fantastic elements"?
