I agree with you that the plots of all these adaptations are terrible. But I also have some opinions of my own. The only redeeming quality of the Super Mario Aramada Series is the fact that I'm pretty sure it was animated by the same people who did the official artwork in the early 90's. This is personally my favorite official style. To sum it up: the animation itself is eye candy for anyone who likes the manual artwork, but the story sucks. I might have said this in another topic, but I like the style of the Super Mario Kun manga. Why? I don't know, I've always been attracted to cartoony stuff. Again, the writing is pretty bad, but then again, who cares if you don't know Japanese? Also, that first picture in the Super Mario Kun section is actually from another Mario Manga. themushroomkingdom.net/mania/manga.shtml (it's the one on the bottom of the page)

I know, I said that:
For some reason, there are two completely different series with the exact same name here
Still, you're right, the anime series did often have a good art style, but the Armada series among others kinda lacked massively as far as having a decent plot goes.

Hey, Super Mario-kun looks interesting since it actually has all relevant characters for all major Mario games in comic form. It's hard to admit, but you won't be seeing Goombella or any of the other 100 RPG side characters in an English official comic, ever.

I once read an issue of Super Mario-kun (the long series one). It's quite cartoony and the humor is very immature.

It is, yes. I've read one too. But come on, just the fact that the original characters are all there makes up for it. It's much better to actually see Cackletta and Fawful instead of "the Mushroom King" or "Wooster" or whatever those Valiant guys came up with.

True, although it's not as if Japanese sources don't make stuff up with no relevance to the games *cough* Prince Hal in that Mario anime movie *cough*. Still, for good or bad, I don't think Mario Kun comics are in production any more. The rest of the list stuff is pretty much awful though, right?

If you want to see semi-official art of obscure characters, Super Mario Kun is definitely the way to go. And yes, it dose contain a lot of base humor from what I've read/heard from other people.

I totally agree with you about King Koopa's Kool Kartoons, cheat-master.
I've said it before, the only good episode in the entire Mario cartoons as a whole was "Mama Luigi". While not entirely faithful to the game, it actually summarized the events up nicely, all while being funny.

There's a reason King Koopa's Kool Kartoons is so obscure, and it's because it sucks.
Heck, a little bit of extra info about the list... I chose the items on it to be generally the more obscure stuff. I mean, I know people think the movie, cartoons and anime movie suck. But hey, everyone knows about them, and they're pretty much universally seen as bad regardless. Kool Kartoons? One video on Youtube or so. Ice Capades? About half a page of videos on Youtube. The Mario Kirby Masterpiece thing? Maybe one video on Youtube if lucky. Not that it's hard to understand, I don't think many people could stand watching any of those the entire way through, let alone decide they liked it enough to record it.
These on the list, bar maybe Super Mario Kun, are basically what Star Wars Holiday Special is to Star Wars. The cartoons, film and Mission to save Princess Peach thing have some fans, in a non hatedom sense. Really, if the list items were more well known, I bet they'd be bad enough to have Nostalgia Critic videos made of it. Not that I'd suggest them, I think any online caustic critics would take one look at the Ice Capades or Kool Kartoons and pretty much lose faith in humanity. Then take a look at the Armada series and Mario Kirby thing and wonder what kind of mind altering drugs the Japanese are apparently on. Or get bored out their brains by how completely without purpose the latter is.

Meh, the Super Mario Bros Super Show actually wasn't that bad. It might be that I started watching them when I was little. (and I admit that there are points where I think the creators had never played a Mario game before) But if the Super Mario Bros Movie can have fans then so can the show.
