Er, yeah.
So, Mushroom Kingdom Currency...

IRL, currencies only converge when there is a lot of trade between regions. The Mushroom Kingdom and its periphery seem to have almost no contact with the Northern Kremisphere and the DK Isles. So why should they use the same currency standard?
So...does anyone have any thoughts on whether MK currency is full-bodied?

I know, I believe the Kongs use Banana Coins while the Kremlins use Kremikoins.

KREMLINGS!!!!
On a side-note, Sarisa brings up a good point: there doesn't seem to be any trade between the Mushroom Kingdom and the DK Isles.

Well obviously, because DK Island(& it's surrounding Isles) are inhabitted by Kong's who clearly lack the understanding needed to create and maintain a Society larger than a few villages.

Yeah, and that's why I love the series. It's so rustic...

Well they apparently speak some Common, and they are intelligent enough to race Karts, Surf, and compete in various Sporting Events... Oh, and DK has TV, so maybe the Kong's really aren't dumb, but rather, most choose to live a rural life(Kind-of like the Yoshi's). Especially since Funky has been tearing up the recent Mario Kart Tournaments like nobody's business... Which brings up another question, "Are the Mario Kart Wii Tournaments canon?"

The Yoshis also live in rustic villages and don't seem to use technology, but they are a part of Mushroom World society, most likely because they live close to the mainland. One of the few pieces of technology they do use is a coin press/mold to mint Yoshi Coins, unless they have them made on the mainland, which doesn't make much sense.

I thought they baked their currency as Yoshi Cookies. Their technology is probably entirely based around making colors, music, and food. All they do is have fun anyways.

Yeah but Yoshi's Island shows that the coins found there have little Yoshi heads on them. Yoshi's Story has coins with little hearts on them. Clearly they have their own brand of coins to mint.
Cranky hid them all over Crocodile Idle to test Diddy's mettle. Koin stole them all in DKC3. Why shouldn't they exist?

Also, they were in DK: KoS and JC too.
Just throwing that out there.

Yeah, but everything in Yoshi's Story was super-cuteified, so the coins may have been subject to that too. (Heh, I made a new word...)

Then I guess you could say the Heart Coins were either a direct result of Baby Bowser turning the island into a pop-up book or some sort of special coin tied to the Super Happy Tree or those Special Hearts in each stage.
