Yeah, if the Luma gave him the power to spin and breath in space, why shouldn't it have also made him resistant enough to survive Melty Molten Galaxy.

Because Mario's max-lifespan dropped by five since the last 3D platformer.
Seriously though, I think that chalks up under "Mario's own sustainability."
Afterall, it's been proven time and time again in other games that Mario can jump in lava and still survive, even before we knew that Galaxy existed.

About lava temperature... in Corona Mountain, the lava looks like dyed water and wood can swim in it! That's obviously the weakest lava we've seen so far, but it must have a ridiculously low temperature for that. Even if the other lava is thicker and hotter, it's still so much unlike our real world lava that I wouldn't be surprised if you could maintain a lava lake with a couple of tea warmer candles.

It's insta-kill, though. And the boat crashes if you hit anything.
Quite literally, anything.

The same boat crashes in normal water, as well.
And, well, in normal life, falling into boiling water is insta-kill as well. Just try swimming out of it!

Remember, Mario is more resilient than the average human. And we just got finished saying that Mario can survive going through regular lava. If he fell in that stuff in Corona Mountain, Logic would tell you that it'd merely be a dip in the hottub for him.

Yeah, OK, but the fact that it's treated like regular lava by the game, yet still wood floats in it, proves that lava in the MK is really, really not that hot.

I got the reference.
On-topic: Wasn't the boat made of mud? I'm just being nitpicky, but I swear the game mentioned it was.

I think the lava is rather extremely hot, as it's so molten it looks like water, and even Mario gets insta-killed by touching it. For the boat, maybe that the wood of Mario's planet is composed differently and is extremely resistant ? After all Bowser's airships are made of wood too.
Or it only applies to extremely hot areas like Isle Delfino. Trees got used to the very high heat (it's so hot Mario can die of sunburn. After 20 seconds or so without his hat...) and became much more resistant than normal trees. Well, I mean, heat-wise.

I guess you're right.
I mean, if Mario can FLUDD the whole island up and still have it evaporate almost in instant contact with the ground, I'd say it's pretty hot there.

But... wood is KNOWN for burning! It's like having ice that doesn't melt, it's extremely unintuitive and, on part of the designers, stupid! I guess it would be resistant, but no wood could resist real-world lava. Not even magic wood. I mean, it's molten ROCK. So this lava must be less hot.

Seriously, wasn't it a mud boat? Still, it is pretty weird it wouldn't melt.

That's why that section of the level was quite bizarre. But, considering the air of Isle Delfino must be hot like fire (a superhero dieing of sunburn after a few seconds ? Water evaporating directly ?), I think the trees adapted themselves instead of dieing (if the Shine Sprites allow the isle to be fertile and have some water, then they can't even die). Much like how Piantas eventually grew a tree on their head due to the heat.

I think Chuggaa said, and I quote,
"That has to be the best example of Nintendo Logic I have ever seen in a Nintendo game," when referencing the Corona Mountain mission.
Hang on while I find the exact quote.
Edit: Correction. He says, "In this entire game," if you want to be exact.
Here, I'll show you.
Skip to about 1:30. If you hear him say, "What now Megaman?!" Then you got it.

At 1:38 in the video, he mentions it's made of mud. I'm going to argue this point until everyone agrees. Be warned.

I agree, it does look like it's made of mud.
I'm not too sure that Nintendo said it officially, though.

I'm pretty sure the Tanooki in Noki Bay mentioned they were made of mud.

In my version, he doesn't say what it's made of, so wood made sense to me at first. But now that you say it again, it may be made of mud too. Which doesn't change the case: the earth of Isle Delfino, being powered up by the Shine Sprites, eventually became resistant enough to do not melt until extremely high temperatures.
