Have you ever played the old classics of text adventuring like Colossal Cave, Zork, Hitchhiker's Guide? Of course, those seem very dated right now - since they don't have any sound or graphics - but the feeling of exploration and adventure they provide is very deep. The strengths of such games are not battles or characters, but the game world itself, its backstory and humor/mystery in the descriptions.
Nowadays, such interactive fiction can even be programmed with bells and whistles like occasional pictures, status displays, or sounds. This is why I ask of you: what kind of Mario story would lend itself to interactive fiction form? It can be something you come up yourself or already incorporated in a Mario game, just deeper.
I think the Paper Luigi story would be great as interactive fiction. Since the way it's told already emphasizes the battles less than the story, one can reduce the battles to puzzles and have a nice, Luigi-narrated tale. For example, Hizza the snake can be defeated by blinding one head with something bright, then throwing Luigi's bridal dress at the other one so the first one follows the smell and bites the second one. Or something.

Mmmm... point-and-click is actually a tad more graphical than what I have in mind. It's more "verb+noun". You know, "take map", "open door", that kind of thing. It's a ton of text, but there's also extreme freedom. You can destroy your own inventory or drop items in a room where they will stay for the whole game.

So it's like a MUD? I recently started playing this Completely Text Based MUD called StellarMass. It was Fun! Oh, I just had an Idea! We should make a Mushroom Kingdom RP Section of the Forum! It would be AWESOME! Or I could just make another Forum entirely, but an RP with people who care about the Marioverse would be Interesting...

RPs lead to drama very quickly. "Oh, I wanted to be that character!" And also, they're really great at dividing/destroying forum communities. Imagine this, we're all having a nice discussion, but someone just starts making references to a current RP, then the others join in, BAM, topic derailed. Also, the people who don't RP feel ostracized. I think it's fine just the way it is now.
MUDs are, as the name implies, multi-user. An adventure I'm thinking of is single-player.

Well, thats why I suggested making a Partner Forum where you Create your own Character, not use a Pre-set one, so that it avoids such Problems!

Or we could do both. Make new characters and use Mario based ones. Plus we could always throw other game series into this like the other Nintendo games. This may be a Mario forum, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who likes more games than just Mario (Mario games are my favorite though)

Err... not me, that's for sure. RPs gets boring fast, and ask you to be there all the time - something I simply can't and won't do.
... but I don't know if the idea is good or not, it's not like I knew anything about this kind of stuff.

Eh, RP forums suck.
I dunno about a Mario text adventure, but I've always wanted to see Luigi star in his own point-and-click adventure, maybe for the DS or Wii even. I feel he'd be the perfect kind of character to fit into such a game.
