Super Leafs. Super Leafs everywhere.
Super Leafs are dead leafs. They have the spotlight in SMB3 and 3DLand, so, while I don't think they only appear in Fall or something, it looks like an indication to when it happens. I know these are in MK7 too, but they aren't omnipresent.

I know these are giant cookies in the background, but I thought these were mountains with forests of brown trees. I was wrong (I WAS looking at it on my 3DS, that's a small screen after all) but if Mario Kart is annual and the game happens between MKW (which is in Fall) and MK7 (which is in Spring), it can only be in Fall, Winter or Spring. Not that it matters much anyway.
