I haven't even tried for Brawl yet though because of the horrid lag ( I tested it out on someone else's game a week ago and decided not to when my Wii finally got working Wi-Fi)

Brawl sometimes works perfectly. It's just a matter of how your connection works. You should give it a try. It wouldn't mess it up, though.

It's too late to play Brawl online anyway. You'll be lucky to find anyone, let alone play a match within acceptable lag parameters.

(The whole problem here is that people don't understand that a game like Smash Bros. can't be played online without lag until we discover a way to get information to travel faster than the speed of light.)

I wouldn't say that. I've played matches consistently with other forums.
And I don't see why it'd have to travel faster than light (impossible, I'll add). It just needs a better connection.

A better connection would make things better, but I don't think it would eliminate the problem. You need to send information from Wii 1 to Wii 2 twice a second. If Wii 1 is on NA's east coast and Wii 2 is on the west coast, you can only do that 31 times a second. Brawl runs at 60fps. So to be lag-free, you'd need to live within 1500 miles (2414km) to have a lag-free match. And that doesn't take into account other traffic, the path the info travels, or more than two players.

(You don't have to believe me, but this is how it works for me.)

I know that that is how it works but I still play Brawl online with little lag (Nintendo must have created sub-areas or something)

I played Brawl online a bit, and there wasn't that much lag when I played with 1 person, but tons when I played with 4. Every match too. Even the spectator matches had lag.
Well Virtua Fighter 5 has almost-lagless online if I remember from reading things about Brawl's online.
