No see, Mario's parents are Italien.
They could have come to the Mushroom Kingdom or been born there, but they are Italien.

But how do you know?

Just a very possible theory.

I suppose. So how would it work out? Would their parents have originally been Italian or what?

lol, First of all it's not obvious at all. The only information we're ever given about their parents in the games is that they're from the Mushroom Kingdom (which once again can only be assumed, because of the mushroom houses). And because of such information the only "obvious" conclusion that most people are going to come to is that that's where they're from, which is (as far as I know) not anywhere near Italy. So if you could try and back up your statements that they're Italian then I'll gladly believe you. Until then, I gotta have my doubts. And Italian is spelled with an A, not an E.

Obvious as to what I said.
Back it up? Mario is Italian!!!
What other possible explanation is there?!?
If your Italian, your child must be Italian also!
If your mate isn't Italian but you are, your child will still be somewhat Italian!!!
And the bros. look pretty Italian to me!!!
This is biology 101.

Just because Mario and Luigi are Italin citizens doesn't mean they're Italian by ethnicity. And the games have pretty much showed us flat out that their parents were mushroomian (?). So I still don't see your logic. And how do they "look" Italian?

* trying to sound calm *
Every game and movie and show based on the bros. clearly showed that they where Italian.
Sounding, looking, even eating!
Listen to how they talk in the games.
Mario's parents are human. Judging by the body shape.
They live in a mushroom house. What of it?
The mushroom people are short stumpy legless creatures.
And of course im refering to the end credits of Yoshi's Island.
I would love to argue with you, but clearly I have solved the mystery of whether or not Mario is Italian.
El fin.

I'm not saying that they aren't human and I'm not saying that they aren't Italian. You're reading me all wrong. Yes, they are Italian seeing as how they are Italian citizens. However, their parents (note that I'm saying parents and not the bros themselves) were living in the Mushroom Kingdom (we can only assume this because of the houses and location in regards to gameplay) at the time of the brother's birth. And thus, the brothers would be mushroomian by heritage. For example, my ancestors were from Scottland, and so I consider my self scottish by ancestry even though I am an American citizen. Understand?
I agree with you that they are Italian and that they are human, but the evidence in the games shows us that by ancestry they are probably mushroomian.

Ok good. Now, are Wario and Waluigi related?
I think no, what you think?

I think Mario and Luigi were probably just heavily influenced by Italian culture while they lived in Italy. As far as we know, their parents have always lived in the Mushroom Dimension. Maybe there was some Italian in the bloodline, though.

But we don't know if Mario ever went to Italy!
The only place that Mario has ever seemed to been is Brooklyn.
Yes, Italian must run in their blood line.

Well, the fact that they have very thick Italian accents and have been said to be Italian in almost every game, it's pretty safe to assume that at some point in their lives they lived in Italy.

Is it possible to develop an accent after living in an area for years?

Post by Kamikaze Koopa on Apr 7, 2005 12:23:14 GMT -5
Well, that' pretty much the only way to develop an accent. Unless you do it on purpose and practice speaking that way for a long time.

Or they already have an accent.
Because their Italian.
Because their parents are Italian.

That's not how accents work, they aren't biological. If two parents were from India, but then moved to America and had children then the children would have American accents. Speach patterns aren't hereditary.
