I always had a thought that Luigi really has a secret hate of his brother and is jealous of his attention. He secretly has that "The world doesn't revolve around Mario" attitude. @luigi Of course not! The World revolves around the Sun... Which Mario killed with a Koopa Shell in SMB3! |

But only mortals die from being close to the sun. Mario is immortal; He has an infinite number of lives because he is able to utilize the powers of 1-up mushrooms.

Ya, I know, mine was a joke too. The Angry Sun has been discussed before. Way to kill the fun.  Anyway. I think that Luigi may be a bit envious of Mario and all of his success, but he doesn't dislike his brother for it. It isn't Mario being too good a stealing the lime-light or anything that causes Luigi to go unnoticed, rather it's Luigi's own cowardice, and Luigi knows this. He wishes that he could be more like Mario, more courageous, but part of his basic personality is to avoid conflict wherever possible. |

Luigi is Scared and Shy, that's why Mario gets all the Attention. And he Wishes he could be like his Brother, but he is NOT a Rival. Maybe a little Envious of Mario, but really, aren't we All?

If anything Wario is more envious of Mario than Luigi is. Plus it isn't like Mario steals ALL of the limelight

Yeah, Luigi has a Fanbase(Talking In-Universe here), but it's relatively small in comparison to Mario's.
