When I get up to Bowser's Castle in M&L:SS, I'll post which ones can breathe fire. although maybe I can remember... lessee...
Well, I remember that Larry can, so they all should be able to, as he's the youngest. Still, I'll double check the rest.

Why is it that only the koopalings, Bowser and the Fire Brothers can breathe fire and the rest of the koopas can't?

Fire bros probably use fire flowers. As for bowser and the koopalings, I'm not so sure. Some say there a separate spices than koopas, but I don't think so.

Not THAT faintly. Koopas can change there shells and since koopas are related to spineys, royal koopas probobly wear spiney shells to look impresive.

But Spiny Shells are red, not Green/Pink/Grey. I think that's the shell they were born with.

I don't think spinies are royal. But Koopatrols like to wear spiky shell armor sometimes.

Koopatrols wear spiney shells as armor, it's part of their uniform.

Why do they have to be spiny shells? Also, I never saw metalic spiny. I think the shell armor is manufactured by the koopas.

In SMB3, lakitu sometimes throws spiney eggs that don't hatch. Those eggs are colored green.
