Don't you think this will be a good game.
Anyway, we will start with characters, then go on to: moves, locations, items, and then storyline. It will have a real storyline unlike SSBM. My plan is to let you guys suggest characters, if enough people agree I will add them to the character list. With multiple people giving out ideas, we will be able to make a game everyone likes.
Character List: note: the big 8 are added automatically.
Mario Luigi Wario Peach Toad Yoshi Donkey Kong Bowser

A Super Smash Bros. like Mario game would sell big, and I bet that Nintendo is already planning this and other franchise fighters off of the success of Brawl.
I'm sure when this gets released (assuming they're making it), they'll include: Petey Piranha Diddy Kong Dry Bones Toadette Boo
You know, the regular Mario spin-off characters? There will probably be obscure ones though, like Whomp, or Toadsworth.
The way I thought of a Mario fighter is like this:
The moves are a lot like in Super Smash Bros plus a block (not shield), along with more SF2 like combos with it. But the arenas would be 3D, complete with destructable buildings.

The problem with any 3D Smash Bros.-type game is the camera. There's just no way to get the optimum angle to show four fighters as well as the location of the blast lines, items, and people who happen to be under platforms (or worse, the edge).

I was thinking like that DBZ fighting game, but faster and with 4 players; all of the special attacks should be gigantic blasts, or at least most. It'd be HP, not Ring-out.

No offense, but I hope not. That would eliminate most of what makes Super Smash Bros. so fun. It'd just be a Mortal Kombat clone.

....Mortal Kombat isn't 3D, it's 2D, but the characters shift around.
Yeah, I think that my idea was somewhat absurd, I've been thinking that ever since I posted the first post up there.
If there was a Mario fighting game, it'd be cool to be like Soul Calibur, where you can choose the weapon (In the console ports), but in Mario Fighter you could choose the powerup, like Fire Mario or Shadow Peach or Vacum Luigi or Biker Wario. You get the point. And like Smash Bros. a bit.

Newer Mortal Kombats are in 3-d.

Not Armageddon at least, I could never run in a circle.
