This is a fan fiction I will be making. And in the style of journey of ten I will be making a separate topic to handle to replies so that the story will function smoothly. This is my first fan fiction so please don't judge it too harshly. It will take place over a hundred years ago and consist of a war between the koopa kingdom and dinosaur land that eventually becomes a world war.
The prologue will be up shortly.

DINOSAUR LAND
Yoshi’s Island:
It was a day like any other; there was nothing to suggest the coming war.
Yoshi’s island was a tropical island that was part of the dinosaur land region, and the most famous of its islands. Yoshi’s island was also the closest thing you could get to a tropical paradise. It had excellent beaches, flowery meadows, incredibly large jungles, a giant lake, and an underground maze of tunnels. But its most stupendous feature was its mountains, the largest of which was Kappa Mountain, named for the koopas rumored to have once lived there.
Yoshi’s island was also home to a wide variety of creatures big and small, from crazy dayzes and ukikis on land, to cheep-cheeps, bloopers, and blurps underwater, to ravens, bumpties, and goonies on the mountains, to tap-taps, swoopers, and Harry hedgehogs in the caves. But the most important were the yoshis (for which the island was named), and their mortal enemies, the rexes.
Most yoshis were nomads, as were the rexes, but a tribe of yoshis had attempted to set up a permanent village. It wasn’t easy as there were often attacks from rexes, but the so-called “yoshi village” had done quite well so far.
Marchi, the village elder, was worried. Rex attacks were swifter now, under a new leader, and Marchi wondered how long the walls could stand against their relentless barrage. Yoshis sent out to forage didn’t return half the time and supplies were getting low. They had fended off the rexes so far, but they hadn’t been able to contact any of the other yoshis yet, and it didn’t help that they hadn’t been able to find the rexes camp yet. These skirmishes against the rexes were common on yoshi’s island, but they were at a disadvantage in the village. Social structure was being affected to; many were concerned that the babies couldn’t grow up in these conditions, but Onchi (an orange yoshi and one of Marchi’s best assistants) was doing a fine job improving moral and battling the rexes.
Donut Plains:
The donut plains were part of Cookie Island, the largest of the dinosaur land islands. It was very humid, but not tropical like yoshi’s island. It mostly consisted of plains and hills, but it also had a couple of jungles infested with fuzzys. A giant lake in the center, dubbed the “donut watering hole”, was home to a large variety of sea life, including several nep-enuts. A couple of houses, once belonging to settlers, now played host to hoards of boos and several eeries (the ghosts of dinosaurs).
The Inhabitants now consisted of a tribe of rexes, and their leader, Minoc. Few yoshis lived on donut plains so the rexes practically ruled the place. Minoc was a green rex unlike most rexes who were either blue or purple, and he had been able to rise to power quickly. But he had been a fair leader and the rexes were happy.
But it was not to last.
Vanilla Dome:
The vanilla dome was a giant hollow mountain. Precious jewels lay inside it, making it a target for adventurers; it had an icy cold lake where sea creatures lived, a ghost house inhabited by boos, and the famous lava pits. The lava pits were notorious basins full of lava that hardly anyone ever returned from, they were inhabited by blarggs, huge lava dragons that were notoriously bad tempered, and there were also rumors of a gargantuan blargg. Over time, blarggs bodies fused with the lava until they turn into creatures of lava.
Besides the blarggs, other creatures like swoopers, fang bats, buzzy beetles, and spike tops lived in the vanilla dome. But the real action happened at the vanilla heights; dolphins lived up there, in the lake created by water coming down from the mountain lake. The water from the vanilla heights went all the way down to Soda Lake, the largest lake in dinosaur land.
Cookie Mountain:
The Monty moles were having a meeting; Loam was in favor of reuniting with the rest of dinosaur land and sharing their technological achievements, but molavard was not. “This is a momentous occasion in our history, it should not be rushed” said Loam, “and I agree that we should consult with our brothers at chocolate island before making a decision”. And so, a party of moles decided to travel to the moles underground city at Chocolate Island and get their decision on the matter. The moles packed provisions and left through tunnels, and so they left the largest mountain on dinosaur land.
The Forest of Illusion:
A dark blue yoshi named Kikichi waked through the forest of illusion, though he marveled at the size and beauty of the forest and the ecosystem of the wigglers he was studying, he had to admit he was lost, not that it was hard to get lost in here, even for him. Strangely, a couple of times he heard something beneath the ground, as if something was tunneling beneath him, but it soon passed. He wandered like this for several days eating only berries, before he heard voices. Sneaking up on the voices he heard creatures conversing in gravely tones. “Rexes!” he gasped, suddenly he heard a noise behind him. Jumping back, he was relived to find it was only a wiggler. “I’m making too much of normal sounds” he thought, he went back to listening to the rexes and found out that lead by a rex named “Brutus”, the rexes were to head into chocolate island. He never heard the rex sneaking up on him.
TWO WEEKS LATER
Chocolate Island:
Rhinox was in a rage; those accused rexes and their leader, “Brutus”, had taken over much of Chocolate Island and driven his tribe of dino-rhinos back towards Chocolate Mountain. Right now he was on lookout duty, but that band of rexes were surprisingly adept at staying out of sight. The albino-dinos weren’t helping matters; they stood out like vanilla on chocolate and always brought the rexes running when they came out. Right now they were in the caves with the mini-rhinos, trying to keep out of sight. Suddenly he saw something; it was a rex! He quickly gathered a band of dino-rhinos and charged after the rex.
At the moles underground city, the mega moles were coming to a decision. After the party of moles had made it to the underground city, they relayed the message to the mega moles. A week later, the moles had come to a decision, and the lead mole; “Monte” gave the decision. “We shall reunite with dinosaur land, but gradually, we shall see how they react to us before coming out fully”. And so, a party of Monty moles came out of the city, past the mud pits, and right into a battle between the dino-rhinos and the rexes!
Undefined:
The reznor were on the hunt! The fieriest of the dinosaurs, the reznor hunted in packs of four, and usually defeated their prey with their fire breath. No creature could stand up to the reznor for long. They had been all over dinosaur land, but few saw a reznor and lived to tell about it. And they usually came off as fairy tales. But now they smelled something, it was, a yoshi. Razor, the leader of the pack, licked his lips in anticipation. It was not far away, they could easily catch it. The reznor were on the hunt!
Far away, in the valley of dragons, an underwater cavern, monsters slept. One of them, an enormous dragon, dreamed about the day when they would wake, and take the world by storm. But until then it slept.
THE KOOPA KINGDOM
Castle Koopa:
At castle koopa, lord Iron-shell was conversing with his generals. Iron-shell was a dubious character, and a virtual dictator, but he knew how to please the people. His aid, Marshal Lakin, became general after almost single handedly inventing the koopas air force. Salard became general under unknown circumstances, and was rumored to be proficient in dark magic, but he was still very valued to the lord. And Galzra, well words couldn’t tell you how he was like exactly. He had worked hard to get to his position, but he was still very ambitious. And Galzra was the only one of the generals who wore a spiny shell.
The koopa army consisted of koopatrols and hammer brothers, but there was a program going on to create more types of hammer brothers. The airship fleet was about moderate size and its weaponry consisted of cannonballs, bullet bills, and bob-ombs.
Being reptiles, the koopas were attracted to the heat of lava, but this was their undoing, as the same lava made the land around them barren.
The problem was that he koopa kingdom was running out of resources and life was hard. They had precious minerals they could trade for resources, but they were in short supply. There were two options, they could declare war on their neighbor the mushroom kingdom and take their resources. Or they could search for more lands and claim them for their own.
As the debate went on into the night, temporal energies shifted.
At exactly 12:00 midnight, a portal appeared at vista hill at the koopa kingdom, and on Kappa Mountain on yoshi’s island.
And then their worlds fell apart.

THE BEGINNING
The glow was blinding.
Everywhere, in both dinosaur land and the koopa kingdom, creatures stopped what they were doing and stared at the portal. Whether they were hunting, talking, fighting, or just walking, they stopped and stared at the portal. It was so bright that it could be seen from all over the countries.
At the kappa mountain end, a couple of ravens flew towards the portal, wondering what it was. They were instantly sucked up by the portal and deposited at vista hill in the koopa kingdom. A lone koopa troopa saw the ravens coming out of the portal, not sure what to make of it, he scrambled to tell his commander-in-chief; “he would know what to do,” he thought.
But no one knew what to do. This was an unexpected event and everyone was panicking. The info eventually reached Salard, general and head of the hammer brothers program. He in turn, gave the info to Iron-shell.
Iron-shell eventually decided that some scouts should be sent to check out this portal. Iron-shell had realized that the ravens had come from a new land; the ravens in question were currently captured and held in birdcages.
A strike team was being prepared, armed with bob-ombs, and once they were ready they went through the portal.
But in dinosaur land, things were different. Creature weren’t panicking, they were in awe. They glow went down in about half-an-hour but it could still be seen from everywhere.
At yoshi’s island, one of the nomad yoshis looked at the portal despite the fact he had just been fighting some rexes. But the portal mesmerized the rexes too. The yoshi, whose name was rochi, started stumbling towards Kappa Mountain. All over the island, creatures walked towards the mountain as if in a daze, only beings from other islands were safe from it.
And even so, the rexes and dino-rhinos on Chocolate Island stopped their battle and stared at the portal, as if longing to get to it.
On Kappa Mountain, the strike team came out of the portal. The most notable members of the strike team were Eric and Ohem, two koopatroles and the leaders of this team. The entire team was armed with bob-ombs and “amazing flying” platforms, the latest in hammer bros technology. They landed on some cloud platforms and from there got down to the top of the mountain.
Kikichi’s head was still sore, after that rex jumped him; he had been tossed in a lake and left to drown. But the water had woken him up and he had broken his bonds with an emergency egg. After that, he had been searching for the rexes but to no avail, it had been two weeks and he doubted he would get out of this forest. He had seen some wiggler nests and an abandoned building, but he couldn’t get out of the forest. He wandered some more and the trees seemed to start to clear away, but they soon grouped together even thicker. He jumped over a gap and was surprised to find an abandoned fortress. He felt a chill and on instinct ran away from the fortress, heading back into the forest.
The koopa team decided to split up and explore the island chain, colecting plant and animal life along the way. Eric took half the team (about 15 koopas) and started heading for another island. Ohem, on the other hand, took the rest of the team and flew down the mountain. A lone yoshi, hidden from sight, went through the portal as they flew off.
Rochi wasn't sure what was happening, he had been sniffing out fruit when he had been attacked by rexes. He had been holding his own when the light appeared. And now he felt and strange urge to get to that light. He only paused a moment when the koopas flew over him.
