The Reel and Spring-Reel are "items". As the story is laid out like a video game, items are neccessary.

After a few sessions of writer's block, cramp, and disembodiment (yes that's a word), I've completed chapter 9. Overall story completion: just under one sixth.

Toomai, I can see this whole thing as a successful cartoon series on Cartoon Network or a compelling video game. I really think you should try to do something more with this after you finish it.

I just have to say that like this story tons. You should put it on the fanfiction.net place. Have you thought of a flash movie idea for this.

I don't know and can't afford Flash, but I may be able to do a 3D animation of the story sometime in the future. I'd love to do a claymation, but I've looked for hours and can't find a tutorial on how to do objects in the air.

I'd like to say that, in case you haven't noticed, I'm keeping a record on new chapters in my sig. If you see a line in my sig you don't remember, or notice that the date has changed, then go and read the new chapter.
Speaking of which, Chapter 13 is up.
