In SPM, the concept of "light world" and "dark world" was introduced into the Mushroom Kingdom. Being that Flipside & Flopside are part of the Marioverse, how far does the mirror effect go? Does it bisect the entire universe? If so, there would be some interesting ideas: - Darkland (that is, where the Koopas mostly live) would be the Mushroom Kingdom's dark side. Bowser would come from there, but have "summer homes" in the light world.
- Wario and Waluigi are Mario and Luigi's mirrored counterparts.
- Yoshi went to World 6 in YI through a Mirror Portal.
- Magikoopas could easily bring troops across the divide, but Mushroomers may be unaware of the dark world's existance completely. Explains the lack of counter-attacks.

That sure would help solve some problems. Maybe Smithy used the divide as well? And maybe every person on Mushroom Earth has a reversed version of themselves. Oh, and it also explains all of the "Dark" creatures.

Nope, aside from everything else, in NSMB you can see the world 6 mountain range from world 8.
Flip/Flopside is in an alternate dimention.

Flipside and Flopside really can't be far from the main Marioverse, despite what people seem to believe. They have pipes, blocks, and other standard Mario stuff. Plus the Goombas and Koopas in the Pits prove that they were around from before Bleck stole a bunch from Bowser's Castle.
And how distinctive is that mountain range, asks I who lacks the game? Could it be mistaken for something else? Or maybe World 8 in that game is not the true Darkland?

Flipside/Flopside isn't a true alternate dimention like hyrule, it's more like a pocket dimention.
You can see a mountain range in the background of world 8 that looks just like the mountains in world 6. Plus world 6 comes right before world 8.

There's a possibility that World 8's an evil place in the good world (like Forever Forest) or they are just similar looking mountains. Greenland looks like Siberia, that doesn't mean that they're in the same place.

The Greenland/Siberia comparision is a little stale (they're just snowy wastelands), but the idea is sound. But I wouldn't be surprised at evil energy seeping around dimensions and sub-dimensions, it tends to do weird stuff like that. I wouldn't expect any "good" areas on the Dark Side.

Well, what about those areas that are so good that they're meant to be creepy? It happens a lot in horror movies. Maybe Baby Bowser's room (Yoshi's Island) is an example.

I'm sorry, but this is all to far'fetched for me. We need at least some proof before spouting out fanon (no offence).

I really don't think we'll get any more proof than we already have. But the fact is, this would solve a few tricky problems we have. The main issue would be anti-proof.
