The Special World in SMW is an intresting place indeed. Is it in some other dimension seperate from the Star World, why does Dinosaur Land change color after you play funky, and how is it so diverse?  |

I always thought that was more of a bounus world then an actual place, given there's no backround. I thought the color change was just the changing of the seasons from summer to fall. Just put in the game as a little present for beating all 96 levels.

Well, I geuss nothing would change if we didn't accept it as cannon.
The color change could be Mario returning later in the year.

I think it's some kind of interdimensional pocket that few ever reach. It's bizarreness is a result of its location.

But how would he get back, if he went in the special world of that dimension he would go in another another dimension.
Unless there's some portal to the normal world at the bottom of Yoshi's Island ( where you come out at ).

There can be an infinite number of dementions out there... But I agree with Hammer Mario, Given that everything looks exactly like it dose in the Mushroom World, execpt the map screen. I doubt it's another demention.

Everything is exactly the same so how cauld it be an alternate dimension, In the SNES version of Super Mario World, the map changes color after you go to the second warp in the Special World. In the GBA version, it changes color when you beat all 70 levels |

There is a little cut scene after you beat all 96 levels showing how the masked koopas came about, but I'm not sure about the reat of the baddies...

I'm not sure if this is in the SNES version, I play the GBA version. You see Luigi in a hot air ballon kicking the little koopa masks out to the left and right. Then Mario comes along and stompsa a koopa of of it's shell and walks away with it as the mask falls down from above. When the koopa gets up, it crawls back into the mask instead. Then you go back to the balloon scene and Mario flys over with a cape, and you see the brothers waving as some super koopas pull a banner overhead saying somthing like congratulations or somthing.
I'll try to find a link later. Right now I can't because the school computer blocks the sight I need.
