As you know, recently we've been having discussions about the physical location of DK Island. So I posted a topic on another fan site about this subject to see what they thought. Here's a link to the site. Be aware that on this site they use foul language at times. Specifically I'd like you guys to read the post by a poster called "_L_." It's near the bottom of the page.

Thanks, Claws! You're right, it seems only appropriate that we should look at both sides of the spectrum. I'll check it out right away.

They make some good arguments, but it still seems a bit flawed to me. First off, DK's house in MvsDK is made of wood, not concrete as Sean commented.
Second off, I wanted to say that while it's true that Diddy Kong coexisted in a single game with all the Rare characters, DK and Diddy have coexisted in multiple games with the Mario crew. What I'm saying is, doesn't it seem more likely that Diddy would have crossed dimensions only once to participate in Diddy Kong Racing, as opposed to both him and DK crossing dimensions multiple times in order to participate in the Mario games? It just seems like it would be such a hassle for them to do it otherwise.
Third off, just in terms of naming things; DK has Kongo Jungle, where as we have the Congo. The names are completely different not only in spelling, but in the name itself too. Our Congo here on Earth is simply referred to as the "Congo" not "Congo Jungle". Hence, two separate places.
Fourth off, we've pretty much decided that DK '94 replaces the original Donkey Kong in the timeline, correct? Well, if such is the case, then in all probability, DK'94 would have taken place in the Marioverse, simply because of the ending (as I've previously stated). I have no idea what the actual gameplay is like, so I can't say any more than that. Although, aside from the fact that the items are there in the first place, Pauline actually seems to realize the significance of a Super Mushroom in the end cinematic, thus prompting her to toss it to Mario (who also recognizes the Mushroom's importance). The fact that both characters are already aware of items and their effects leads me to believe that both characters, both Pauline and Mario, had already spent a great deal of time in the Marioverse, thus supporting the probability that the game took place there. After all, why would the characters constantly go jumping back and forth from dimension to dimension? It just doesn't make any sense.

Do you mind if I post your reply on that other site? I'd like to see how they handle your argument because I think you're making very good points.

Well, sorry I've been gone so long; my computer screwed up, and it's in the shop now. I'm not dead! I'll post regularly again when my computer gets fixed.

I'm at school again, so I can't say much. My computer's still being fixed. Kamikaze, I posted your reply on the DKU forums. But because the school computer doesn't allow me to go there for some reason, I can't see how they responded.

Hey, I'm on my home computer! Kamikaze, I suggest you take a look at their arguments. They make some really good ones. (I'm sorry if they're insulting--they tend to be that way.)

Yup, I've read through their arguments and it seems as though they've won. I just don't know enough about the Rare DK games to really go against anything they said. That and I really don't care about this argument anymore; I've lost alot of my interest in Mariology recently. I just don't get any pleasure out of it like I used to, I'm sorry to say.

You've seemed very melancholy lately. Are you leaving again? Do whatever you want, but realize that you're one of the driving forces behind this forum (humble as it may be). Plus, you're a pleasure to discuss continuity with, which is more than I can say for most of the people at DKU (although I share many views with them) or TMK.
Is your loss of interest linked to what I did in presenting the argument to other DK fans?

No no, absolutely not. I love having discussions with more people, it's just that I don't really get anything out of Mariology anymore. It's much too difficult and there are really no real benefits because we never actually solve any of the problems. Don't get me wrong, it's a pleasure to talk to you guys and I hope it doesn't end, but Mariology just seems like a lost cause to me. I gave it my best shot and I really wanted it to work, but in the end the universe is just too screwy to really make sense out of it all. After all, Miyamoto never wanted there to be a coherant universe, so it's literally like trying to shove a square peg into a round hole. It just doesn't work and you eventually have to call it quits.

You have a point. But I guess hopefuls like me will always try, no matter how distant the goal is.

Thanks. One thing, though: do you think it's safe to conclude that DK Island is in our dimension? You had almost convinced me otherwise with your last argument.
