Ok, so one thing I've wanted to do for quite a while now is create an actual map of the known Marioverse using the world maps from the games we've played and any artwork that may contribute to building the environment. The outcome, of course, is to hopefully have a working map of the world that Mario and Luigi inhabit to be used for reference and study. If anybody wants to help me out by making suggestions for locations to add or posting informative links for me it would be greatly appreciated. Unfortunately, because of some current debates that are taking place, the map may or may not be missing some locations until after a solution has been found.

I was thinking of doing the exact same thing. A map would be very useful. Here are a few of the main landmasses:
mThe circular island chain that includes a chief castle of Bowser's and the capitol? of the Mushroom Kingdom. (SMRPG)
mThe large landmass that includes Peach's castle, Toad Town, Mario's house, and the racetrack golf courses in front Peach's castle. (PM)
The landmass that includes Poshley Heights, Rogueport, Twilight Town, Glitzville, and Keelhaul Key island. (PM:TTYD)
mThe circular island chain/landmass that includes Yoshi's Island (not sure if this is the one from the game Yoshi's Island), Donut Plains, Forest of Illusion (is that what it's called?), and a sunken flying warship (one that originally belonged to one of the Koopa Kids). (SMW)
Kitchen Island, which apparently includes Diamond City and the Golden Pyramid. (WL)
mMario Land, which includes Mario's personal castle, which was at one time controlled by Wario. (SML2)
Sarasaland, which includes the kingdoms of Birabuto, Muda, Easton, and Chai. The whereabouts of this land are unknown to me.
mThe large landmass that the seven (or was it eight?) regional kings ruled over. I think they were still under the supreme rule of the Chancellor, but in their area they held power comparable to that of kings--thus the naming of them as such. (SMB3)
Subcon, if it was indeed real. I think it would probably be an isolated landmass. (SMB2)
mYoshi's Island, where Baby Mario and Luigi were born. Still not sure if this is the same one as the one in SMW because the title screen seems to suggest otherwise. (YI)
mWherever SMB took place. I'd assume it's connected to the Peach's castle landmass, but I'm not sure. (SMB)
Wherever Twilight City is. Probably it's on the landmass where Peach's castle is. (MvsDK)
Wherever Mushroom City is. I think it is encircled by Toad's Turnpike. Not sure where the place is, though.
And for the many icy areas, I'd guess most are in the Shiver City or Fahr Outpost areas.
That's all I can think of at the moment. Please point out any I missed.
EDIT: I'm placing an "m" by each place we've found a map for.

Whew, that's alot of places. I've got a big job ahead of me. ^_^
Ok, well I know that the chain of islands from Mario World were the Dinosaur Islands, and Yoshi's Island from SMW2 is the same as the first stage from SMW. We know that Mushroom Bridge is located near Mushroom City, as either can be seen in the distance of one another. And we also need to factor in the Delphino Islands.

Guess I forgot about those places. Oh, and how could I forget the Beanbean Kingdom? It's on an island of its own, right?

Oh jeez, I forgot the Beanbean Kingdom too! No, as far as I know it's right next the Mushroom Kingdom and they're only seperated by the Stardust Fields mountain range.

If we can find artwork or in-game maps of all of these areas, I think we can make a map.

Do those websites you linked to earlier feature any game manual art of maps or map screen screenshots?

Holy monkeys! Claws, you are my total lord and master. *bows*
Seriously, thank you so much, man. I'll keep looking for stuff myself. (where did you find that Mushroom Kingdom map? I've been looking for one for years!)

Although, I gotta warn ya, buddy. Be careful when posting so many pics straight in the forums, I'm not sure how much it would take to crash this little board. Try to use external links if at all possible. ^_^

You just beat me to posting Kitchen Island ^_^. And no, I don't believe there are any existing maps of Sarasaland or Subcon either. I do, however, seem to remember seeing multiple islands that made up the Delphino Islands, I think one of them was shaped like a Sea Turtle. Does anybody know what I'm talking about, or am I thinking of something completely different?

Well, I can't remember. But I got that out of the Nintendo Power Player's Guide, so I assumed it was right. It might not be, though.

In the intro to SMS you can see several islands around Isle Delfino shaped like tropical ocean animals.
Post a new topic for Subcon please and I'll tell you all I know.
And post a topic on how Mario came to the Mushroom World. (Which will contain some theorys of mine about the movie )
In the guides SMB took place in the Mushroom Kingdom. Looking at the backrounds ( for the SNES version ) you can see hills, some desert, and waterfalls. These areas could be beyond Toad Town. ( see PM map ) The deserts might be Dry Dry Desert. The Goomba statues could be there for some unknown reason. ( possibly related to the Dry Dry Ruins origin ) The waterfalls might be around the area of the Koopa Bros. castle. The hiils could be anywhere. The small fortresses could be outposts or houses from a war.

You know, you can go ahead and start new threads too. You don't have to wait around for me to start them up ^_^.
And yeah, I'm going to replay through SMB and the Lost Levels to try and study the backgrounds more effectively. I know in the SMB manual it mentions that the Goombas were once allies of the Mushroom Kingdom, but they revolted and joined Bowser. It seems to me like those Goomba statues are just remnants of when they inhabited the Mushroom Kingdom alongside the Toads (and possible the humans).

The humans, mushroom people, and Yoshi's have always fought together against the evil forces of bad stuff.
Goombas are just mushroom resembling creatures so not all of them are mushrooms gone bad.
This explains the good Goombas in the Paper Mario games.

Is SMB DX and SMB the same game? If they are, wouldn't that mean the area in SMB DX is the one in SMB? We have a map of the SMB DX area.

Yes, I've actually printed out all the map sections of SMB DX and am currently trying to piece them together like a puzzle. ^_^
I'll take a picture and scan it up here when I'm finished.

Awesome. I was thinking about doing that, but I decided it would be easier to try to sketch it out using the map pieces as reference. But I haven't started on that yet.
