These are some theorys that go together with the war in my head.
I think Goombas are just some mushroom resembling creature, if they turned bad why are their good Goombas? (Paper Mario)
Well, here is the very first of me putting my thoughts on paper, or computer...
Koopa's and Goomba's have generally been socially respectable species. They've lived peacefully all over the Mushroom World. Going about their business and treating their neighbors with kindness and decency.
All was good for a long time. Humans have also lived all over the Mushroom World. Accidentally coming in from Warp Pipes on earth, and making homes and families with other humans. Humans made good rulers, with courage, and size to boot. The mushroom people always welcomed and loved humans and humans loved them.
Anyway Koopa’s and Goomba’s lived in peace.
Nobody ever expected they would try to enslave the planet....
The power stars are wondrous things. They use magic to power the area where their used. Isle Delfino uses power stars, so does Peach’s castle. Bowser tried to steal the stars to use the magic for his own use. Good thing for our human friends, otherwise the Mushroom World would be taken over by now.
Humans have contributed many things throughout the millennia, effective piping, kings, heroes…
Bows and arrows, swords, axes, cannons, plagues, war…
Guns are what they didn’t bring. There’s no gun powder in the Mushroom World.
Morton learned of cannons and started making them. He didn’t have gun powder so its explosion wasn’t large. Direct contact was almost the only way to inflict damage.
The mushroom people tried to recreate swords, ect. They succeeded. They improved on the Bow and only used it for hunting or getting rid of unwanted predators. Swords became knives. Cannons were used for fireworks. Axes where used for trees. Death was unwanted unless absolutely necessary.
Morton got hold of these once weapons of terror and turned them into killing devices.
Many of his servants could hold swords in ways different to humans, thus he made crude instruments of torture. Spikes were mandatory on most things, like chains, bludgeoning items, armor, and helmets. Swords had two sides: one for slicing and one for sawing. Bones didn’t stand a chance much less flesh.
Morton had the tools for war, and a vast army, but he needed resources.
Even a creature as evil has him has earthly needs.
So Morton assembled his army and marched across his wasteland to the Mushroom Kingdom, which supplied water, land, and above all else…
Power…
