So, for a long amount of time it has been theorized that Morton Koopa Jr has either been named after his grandfather (who only exists in theory), or whether Bowser's actual name is Morton. But, if his name is Morton then why does everybody call him Bowser, pray tell?
Well, what if "Bowser" is actually not a name so much as a title, like Emporer or King. What if the "Bowser" is simply the name for the current ruler of the Koopa Klan? For example, if Iggy Koopa were to rise to power he would then be refered to as "Bowser" Koopa. It's a long shot, but what do you think?

Well, it sounds good, but you must remember what Bowser was called in the early days: King Koopa. So that leads me to believe the Koopa Klan gives their ruler the designation "king." I think Bowser is just his name.

Yeah, probably. It seemed like a good idea, though. ^_^()

The leader of the old war before Yoshi's Island ( game ) is Bowser's father, Morton. Bowser tried to enslave evreybody with magic from the power stars. His mind and body where altered from the magic. Morton became insane.
In some large vat of liquid magic or somthing Morton fell in, and came out as Giga Bowser. Or at least in apperarance, everyone else still called him Lord Koopa, and/or King Koopa.
In his mutated state his mind was terribly altered and soon died. Who was Morton fighting against besides the mushroom people and other humans?
Mario's dad of course....

An interesting theory. One problem, though, is that if Morton was the name of Bowser's father then Morton Koopa Jr would actually be Morton Koopa II. Jr is only used in regards to a father and son relationship, not a grandfather and grandson one. Although, if you can find an account of it actually happening at some point in history, then please tell me. It would be good to know.

Morton Koopa Jr. is named after his grandfather Morton.
Morton is also known as Lord Koopa, King Koopa, ect.

Once again, though, if he were named after his grandfather then he wouldn't be a "Jr". He would be Morton Koopa II.

lol Sorry, Mastar. I don't mean to scramble your brain or anything.
There's always the possibility that he just changed his name. Occam's Razor. ^_^

Yeah, after all "Bowser" sounds much more intimidating than "Morton". Then agian, why would he name one of his sons after his old name?

My idea makes more sense.
Lets just say "whatever, based off his grandpa, " and end this whole thing eh?

lol, Actually you're idea makes less sense. I'm gonna state for the hundredth time that if he were named after his grandfather then he wouldn't be dubbed "Jr".

Darn opinion...
When I rule the world my dicatorial ship will see that there is no free will!
A compromise is in order. Or needs to be.

Ok. Bowser's previous name was Morton but changed it. He named his son Morton Koopa Jr. for reasons of his own. What should Bowser's dads name be then?

There's always creation through magic. But then again, that's a huuuuuuge long shot, and I didn't really mean for it to be seriously considered as a possibility. I was just throwing it out there.
