Yeah, it's probably full of air.
She reminds me of Jessica Simpson....
Except hotter.

So do you think the hair on the toads is actually hair like ours or something else? Same for the koopas and goombas.

I'd say animal feeling. Unless they take good care of it or something.

I only ask because out hair serves the purpose of keeping us warm (and in the case of our eyebrows and eye lashes, to keep sweat and dirt out of our eyes). But would fungi have those same needs? What about turtles?

I think it performs somewhat the same function, but to a lesser extent. It's not necessary to them.

If it's not necessary then they never would have developed it in the first place. So it has to serve some purpose.

We have apendixes and we don't need them.
Toads and Koopas have some hair, it's just not in quantities .

That's true about the appendixes. And I suppose, being turtles, the koopas would be cold blooded and thus need to obtain heat from the sun; the hair might aid in that.

It could also trap dust and grime so that it doesn't reach the Koopa/Toad's skin.

Hmm, it would seem like an insult to say somebody has hair in the Mushroom World probably.

Yoshis are reptiles, therefore no hair.
And if saying someone had hair would be an insult, then Bowser would've shaved his off.

The yoshi kid from PM2 had hair. And yoshis are not reptiles, they're dinosaurs. It's been said so in official sources. Reptiles are the ancestors of dinosaurs: and Dinosaurs are the ancestors of birds.

We have apendixes and we don't need them. Actually, new studies have found out what our appendixes used to be used for. Back when we were hunters/scavengers and used to eat wild animals (sometimes raw) we had a tendency to chew on the bones and suck out the bone marrow. In process we would ingest small splinters of indigestable bone, and the appendix would release enzymes in order to break them down. However, since we've pretty much kicked the habit of bone chewing, our appendixes have shut down and withered away. But that's neither here nor there. Back on topic, you also have to remember that a good majority of the toads in SMRPG had hair. So it can't be that bad of an "insult".

Maybe there really isn't a significance to it. For example, there are shaved heads and hairy heads in our world; hairy heads just happen to be more widespread. Maybe in the Mushroom Kingdom, the opposite is true.
