I'm talking about those floor/ceiling pads in Luigi's Mansion. How do they work, why do they exist, and why are they so inconspicuous?

I don't really remember those. Do you have a picture?

I don't have a picture but I can describe it. It's circular with a double-headed arrow on it. On one side of the arrow the background is blue, the other side is red, and the arrow is white. They're just big enough to stand on.

I'll have to go play Luigi's Mansion again. I'll reply when I figure it out.

I think you see them in the Ice Medallion room and the dust-covered Cellar.

I haven't had much time to play it lately, but I'll get to it sooner or later.

Oh, XD, now I remember, they made you walk on the ceiling yeah I remember now. Hmmmm, it could be some sort of magic the ghosts made, or the ghost painter, to confuse any trespassers, or suspend them on the ceiling to get captured by the ghosts. ... I dunno, how about you?

It seems plausible that they could catch travellers...but then why one on the ceiling to get them back down?

Well, maybe if a human was needed for something, like to clean the top of the chandelier, perhaps that's why one would be placed up there. Or, and this excuse is probably worth banning on these forums, it was an add on in the game made by the developers to get Luigi down. XD Just kidding.

Heh I love Luigi's mansion.
I always found it interesting how the ghosts were paintings at first...
Reminded me of Harry Potter, the paintings that moved and such.

I think the many renovations the mansion has undergone are very interesting. A kart battle course, a backdrop for tennis courts, a racetrack--what's next?

the mansion was original created by the ghosts

But Luigi received a real mansion at the end of the game.

The fact that those tennis courts and such use the mansion that was built buy the ghosts, it further presents evidence that they should be disregarded. After all, the mansion does cease to exist at the end of Luigi's Mansion.
