the fire balls are still called podobos and yes they are like thwomps and are ghostish

I think podoboos would fall into that category of "things that seem alive even tough there made from a material other then flesh" group. Other examples would be clefts, tuff puffs, chomps, embers, whomps...you get the idea.

About the Lava Bubbles--I too remember reading that they were possessed or something.
