In Super Mario Galaxy 2? I've seen a few people claim it's not canon or an in game only thing, but what about Rolling Coaster, Flip-Out and Grandmaster Galaxies, which are unique locations only found in World S?

I suppose the Canonicity is up for debate, I would say it's a possibility, the only reason I think it may be Canon is collecting Power Stars! But if it is Canon, Mario definitely went their before World 6, because I think Mario got all of the Power Stars(Albeit Bowsers last Grand Star) before he fought Bowser!

I personally think that everything before the first time you see the ending is canon. Or, as EpicGyllynn said, Mario could've went through World S before World 6.

That's a fair enough point, and seems to explain the area well. Although I'd possibly think Grandmaster came after, since Rosalina was there, and it seems to be the place Bowser took the Comet Observatory to.

I like to assume pretty much anything which isn't stated otherwise is canon. But it ties in, because note how in the ending the Observatory appears when Bowser's defeated? I say he magically sealed it away somewhere after the last time to stop Mario utilising it. Of course, he didn't expect the Starship Mario... My bet is Grandmaster is what was used to stop Mario reaching it.

Grandmaster Galaxy was Bowser's ultimate stronghold. He built it just in case Mario plowed through Battle Belt and Boss Belt. The Green stars have to be canon though. Unless Rosalina made that part up.

Maybe that Mario did both adventures at the same time. After all what we saw was Rosalina's version of the adventure. She may have made two books out of the adventure: one telling the side where Mario saves Peach and gathers Power Stars, and one telling the side where Mario gathers Green Stars.

You know its funny because when I saw that cutscene I had just finished with Luigi so Luma had Luigi's hat, and then Rosalina says now I will tell the story of how Mario found the Green stars. Considering that Luigi saved the friking world she doesn't even mention him when he helped get the green stars too. (cmon who didn't get at least one green star with Luigi)
