W00t! I got a Wii yesterday, and started playing this game. I haven't gotten very far yet but so far it's pretty good.

Last night I finished the main story line. Here are some of my after thoughts. Don't worry, no spoilers...
Graphics: The graphics are about on par with PM2, I did notice a few glithes here and there, but nothing too bad. No really big complaints here.
Sound: Compared to the other 2 PM's the muisc was rather unmemroble. There were about 3 or 4 songs I really liked but the rest were too genneric to remember. The sound effects themselves were pretty good, though I'm kinda mad they didn't have Scott Burns to do Bowser's voice like in the other games (You can here the difference if you listen close enough)
Story line: Compared to every other Mario game made so far, I'd consider this on to have the darkest theme so far. Unless you play through the whole thing, you really would assume that some of the characters end up dying, somthing unheard of in any other game. I don't consider this a bad thing, just an observation. Overall the story was about as good as PM2.
Gameplay: I found the flipping to be a bit cumbersome at times, as I would forget to keep doing it in every room and get stuck, but considering some other gimmicks Nintendo has put in there games, it could have been a lot worse (I.e: Yoshi's touch and go) My biggest complaint in the game was WAY TOO EASY! I probably only died about 4 or 5 time during the entire thing, and beat all but 2 bosses on the first try. (Including the final boss) I don't think I was on a very high level, I only had 45 HP in the last fight. The made the enemies too weak with not enough HP or too low a defence. Even the last boss I beat within 6 or 7 hits using Bowser and a certain pixil. Allthough the levels were more expansive then the other PM's I probably beat it in around 14 hours, half the time it took me about to beat PM2.
Overall: Character and level design were nice, but It lacked in some areas. It wasn't as funny as some people made it out to be and the pixis besides Tippi, lake all personality and never uttered a word after the time you find them. I enjoyed the partners from the previous PM games way more. Overall, I think the game was a bit over-hyped I can't say it was the best Mario game I ever played, or even the beat PM game, but it was good enough to feel I didn't waste my money on it.
7/10

Storylinewise, and even characterwise (any more would be a spoiler), SPM is really similar to Twilight Princess. Makes me wonder how many people were working on both games.

Well, Miyamoto, obviously. And he does have the biggest impact. Perhaps he had a sudden inspiration for the new generation.

Have you done either of the Pits of 1000 Trials? That's right, there's 2 of them. They both give you an awesome ability...

Bit of an extra 0 there, man.
Too bad the rewards just increase your exploration abilities.
