I think we will have to play LM2 before we can make any more King Boo speculation. Now that he has returned to his original style this may change drastically what we think of King Boo.

Following my theory (that he stored part of his power inside the Bowser suit, and thus he escaped from the painting by breaking the link between him and the suit, making him give up his power stored in the suit), I guess King Boo kept training until he could return to his previous strenght.

Or he destroyed the painting when E. Gadd wasn't watching it. But if this happened, then maybe he freed the portrait ghosts as well?

He didn't destroy the painting. It appears in Mario Kart: Double Dash and Mario Kart DS. But King Boo's not on it.

No I mean he just destroyed the painting prior to the events (or maybe even during the events) of LM2

Destroying the painting would also destroy the suit, no ?

Well there must be some way for him to get the contents of the painting out of the painting. Otherwise King Boo couldn't have freed the portrait ghosts prior to the first Luigi's Mansion. (I doubt he used the reverse portraitficationizer)

Or Shadow Mario made it for Bowser, all simply.

I don't get what you are trying to say

I don't know. Didn't look at the right post, apparently.
So, for an actual answer... In my version of the game, it's clearly said King Boo used E. Gadd's machine in the reverse way.

Plus, it's kind of implied, given the fact that he specifically mentions that his machine works in reverse, and the fact that it's the way that Mario gets freed from HIS painting at the end of the game.

Ok so then I figure King Boo put the machine in reverse again to free his full power from the painting for LM2.

I assume E. Gadd must use better security for his lab, now.
Although it doesn't really matter. King Boo became as strong as before again, either way (... maybe).
