Hello! I'm new to these forums and, since I didn't see any specific board for Introductions, I've decided to introduce myself to the General Boards!
First off, I'd like to say that I've done quite a bit of research concerning Mario forums and, hands down, this is the highest quality. I found you guys through the highly recommended "Mario Thoughts From A Mario Mind" blog that combines thoughtful philosophy with our favorite plumber! I'm a bit surprised seeing just how successful Mario is (at least marketably) but how little you can find online concerning the fanbase.
Oh well, I'm here! And I hope to share in the Mario love with all of you ugys here!

Welcome to the forums DD, and thank you for the compliment! It's always nice to new members, especially when they come from Waluigious. But before you get started, I got to let you know that the Fruit Punch is on the table down the hall, and somebody should be preparing the Cookies by now. *Glances at other Members who proceed to shrug Shoulders* ...Uhhh, scratch that last part.

Well, welcome to the forums, ddshoeshowz! Do you mind if I just call you DD? Your username's a lot to type, that's all. I certainly hope you have a good time here, and hopefully you'll stick around. DD is certainly fine. In fact, you may all call me as such. Truthfully, I got it from a really old AOL account that I've had pretty much from since I can remember. Early 90's? Not sure. It was in the early days of my internet use when Geocites was the place to be. In fact, I'm surprised at how early it really is because I've only ever been on this Earth since 1991!  Aww! I love Fruit Punch! But, seriously, I love Waluigilicious! Its one of the few blogs on the internet that I care to follow! I look forward to it! Oh cool! Girl club! In fact, although I'm a bit of a gym-rat, I'm perhaps one of the girliest people I know. I often end up squealing when I get really excited. But pink is not my favorite color. In fact, that whole clothing line from Victoria's Secret doesn't sit well with me either. Half of the clothes aren't even pink! But they have the word pasted all over their clothes. ...uh, yah. /rant Why does that have to be a sad thing? I feel people are often far to hard on themselves. I mean, unless we're starting a feminist uprising or something, I don't feel that's a sad thing. However, such thinking often leads me to wonder about the psychology behind the whole ideology (sorry, I was a psych major at one point). Why do people always assume pathetic-ism? Why don't we celebrate the fact! Ah well, this is probably far too much thought on the subject for a Mario forum. I'm looking forward to putting such intellect towards our favorite plumber! We're going to have to change that, then! Aren't we.  To everyone else - thanks for the welcome! This already seems to be one of the friendliest boards I've found! Thank you! Also, what do you mean by a "surprising compliment"? I take no offense or anything of that sort, I'm just curious. So, now that I've asked you a question, I'll answer a few of yours. I'm 19, and I identify myself as a person from the east coast of the United States (born and raised in the New York and Philadelphia suburbs) but I'm currently going to school for zoological studies in Ohio. (And I love it here!) Since when did I become interested? Well, ever since I can remember! Mario was the 2nd game I've ever played (only behind the Lion King for the SNES), and I have to say, I was enthralled from the beginning. And how could one not? The whole world is...nonsensical from the outset, but has its own internal logic. I've always been drawn to stories that operate that way. I happened across this forum because I was looking for specifically Mario-centric websites. But, for some reason, they're few and far between. Oh, don't get me wrong, there's Nintendo forums, but no Mario. Which is why I'm so glad to be here! Also, yes, Waluigi is the aw snap.  |

When I talk about this forum to other people, they laugh at me - and thus at this forum. "Mariology" isn't well seen anyway. Thanks for answering these questions. Laugh at you? Okay, see, I'm quite well ingratiated into troll culture and I've even written a few Encyclopedia Dramatica articles myself.
But I have to say, it gets tiring after a while. And I found that most of the people involved in that community are self-hating and don't allow themselves to enjoy what they truly love. So, I've dropped out of the whole thing and embraced my nerdier side.
And I like to say interesting things. Maybe I'll become e-famous on 4chan!

And, yeah, people say weird crap all the time. I just pointed it out on the internet because people have the anonymity to hide behind. But I feel that if you're saying you don't like Mario, then you just don't like puppies, or something like that. Mario was a part of most peoples' childhood, and if not, the whole franchise is just plain fun! Its like hating Disney - the people that do are generally grumpy people. I praise the forum so much because I've done a bit of research before joining it. I don't have that much time with school and all, so I want to put my time towards some place that seems constructive/active/ and most importantly, enthusiastic about what they do.  |
