Zelda is still more dark and serious than Mario games, each game actually has a plot, and I'm pretty sure the fact there's a Zelda timeline was stated years ago. Um... no official Zelda timeline has EVER been announced. Last time I checked the only the that has been confirmed are direct sequels, Skyward Sword comes at the beginning, Minish Cap is before the Four Sword series, and there is a split timeline. Thats it. But I know what you mean about everyone hating on the Mario theorists. However, I have tended to find that other Nintendo fans can respect you somewhat if you are a Mario theorist.

I didn't say that an official timeline was confirmed. I said that they confirmed there was an official timeline. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

They confirmed that there was an official timeline? could I see the article where they said that?

Some interview or something. They said one copy of it was on Miyamoto's laptop, and something else. I don't really care about things concerning the Zelda series, but I'm pretty sure we knew there was a timeline before this year.

We knew that there was supposed to be a timeline. Or at least... that is what all the Zelda fans hoped...

Up until Aonouma confirmed it earlier this year, the timeline was just a concept at best, but we know there is one, just not what it's like.

I'm sure that the news was taken very well by Zelda fans. Up until then, the timeline was just something that theorists liked to talk about, but to actually see that they had planned this whole timeline from the very beginning... almost makes me wonder what secrets they have planned for the Mario series.

...That is a good point, KK. Maybe if and when Miyamoto finally decides to relin1uish that data, this forum may be rendered useless! ...That sounded a lot better in my head, I swear...

Probably a lot, but probably never an official timeline.

If he told us the timeline, we would still have PLENTY of things to discuss... Trust me.

True, the Timeline is only one topic out of the many that we've talked about in the past, but it's still a pretty big part.

I think maybe they won't announce it because, as stated before, there's a lot more support and pressure for a Zelda timeline.
Let's face it, most of the people who play Mario are in it for the gameplay, not the story/world.

I'm not so sure. If most people didn't care about story in Mario games, I don't think there'd be as many Mario RPGs as there are (which are quite plot-centric).

But most Mario fans are either, A)People who LOVE the game for gameplay, B)People who play it for Nostalgia. I personally love the game for the gameplay, but the world is just so fantastical, and... Unintentionally deep! I really don't think that Miyamoto intended for the game to be "deep", but I think that the universe, it's races, characters, and, well, everything is just so enthralling that I can't help but not to love it!

Again, if most Mario fans are only in it for the gameplay or nostalgia's sake, why make so many plot-centric RPGs? They certainly don't play like most traditional Mario games.

They also have their own separate fanbase, again, I'm a fan of both, but there are some people who play Mario RPG's who could care less about the Platformers, and vice-versa.

I'm sure there are people like that. But, something tells me that those fans are few and far between. I think most Mario fans like and partake in all of his games, to some extent.
Or maybe it's just me, since I'm a Mario Freak. Be it the main series, Mario Party, Mario Kart, Dr. Mario, Wario Land, Donkey Kong Country, etc. I like almost anything that's connected to Mario, other than the movie, of course (and even that entertains me, from time-to-time).

I like 'em all, too! Super Mario, Paper Mario, Super Mario RPG, Dr. Mario, Mario & Luigi, Wario Land, Wario Ware, Donkey Kong Country, Yoshi's Island, etc, etc. I just love Mario

I only play Mario for its world.
Does that make me a monster ?
Modification; I'm just kidding. I play Mario for both its universe, characters, story (don't kill me) and gameplay.

I like both the Mario series world and gameplay. Okay, the latter would probably win out in a duel, simply because I can't stand a bad game, series name or not, but I really really need elements from the Mario series in a Mario game to count it as a good Mario game, hence why I dislike Mario Golf and Tennis handheld games.
But yeah, I care about the world, the gameplay and the games in general. Indeed, I've basically only played maybe four series of video games in history... Mario (since Mario Land), Legend of Zelda, Pokemon (when I was younger) and Smash Bros. I've only ever bought Nintendo consoles, want to write a book about the Mario series, and done just about any kind of fan work related to the series ever.
