*sigh* SMB Deluxe was wasted on me...
Mainly because I was around six at the time I got my first Game Boy Color...
...I did however play the crap out of SMW before it was stolen along with my copy of M&L:PiT and DS Phat...

Super Mario RPG DS with new 3D graphics, voice samples, and updated musical instrumentation would be the best repackaging, in my opinion!
Also, just curious, is there any particular reason why you prefer SMA2 over SMB Deluxe? Because I felt that it didn't add anything new to the game, save Luigi's flutter and decreased traction. Perhaps you just like SMW a lot?

Whilst SMB Deluxe is crammed with a crapload of new material, Super Mario World has double power-ups, so...

Well, it all depends on gameplay and storyline.
Best of the original triolgy: Super Mario Bros 3 Best RPG: Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Best 3D game: toss-up between Super Mario Galaxy and it's sequel Best storyline: Super Paper Mario Best sidescroller: Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island (assuming it can count as a "Mario" game)

However, The Thousand Year Door doesn't even COMPARE to the perfection that IS the Super Mario Galaxy Sub-series! No offense, I mean, Paper Mario is great and all, but Galaxy is better.

One's an RPG, the other's a platformer. You can't compare them.

Best sidescroller: Super Mario Bros. 3 Best RPG: Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars Best 3D game: toss-up between Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Galaxy (64 has better and more varied levels and design, SMS has better music, graphics, and story) Best storyline: Paper Mario - The Thousand-Year Door

I never saw SMB3 as all that great.
Okay, that's a lie. It's a Mario game, and one of my favorites. SMW, however, is vastly superior. It took everything bad about SMB3 and fixed it.

SMBBQI'm going to have to respectfully disagree with you. While I love both games, I think that SMB3 was superior. I thought that it had a better map screen (the reserve item inventory and Toad houses were brilliant), better music, tighter controls, a better premise (you travel around the world, helping different kings), flying was A LOT easier, there were more power-ups, and there was a competitive 2-player mode. Like I said, both games are excellent. But, SMB3 takes the cake, in my opinion.
