For the Mario series? Or at least ones with their own domain names? Is the fandom that non existant outside of 2ch over there?

The Japanese actual social lives, preventing them from starting fansites.

They're all over the place. They're just hard to find because it's hard to do a Google search for something in Japanese and not many people feel like linking to them.

The Japanese actual social lives, preventing them from starting fansites. The Hikikomori would like to have a word with you. Or rather, they wouldn't, they'd rather be alone. (And they might be 20% of Japanese young males!) Though, you could have been joking, too, in which case excuse me.

Yes, I was joking. Like I said in the Introductions thread, I try and fail to be funny.

Yes, I was joking. Like I said in the Introductions thread, I try and fail to be funny. No, I thought you might have been joking... you know, there are those little hints of sarcasm that you can insert to make it more clear. Like... "Yeah, because the Japanese have so much social life and therefore no time to make homepages." See, there's that "yeah" in the beginning, and "because", don't forget the "because"! That will make you the master of sarcasm! A sarcasmaster! A mastarcasm!

Oh, wow, that really is a nice site. I didn't even think Mario was known in China that much.
In other news, every time someone links to a Chinese site, I get the urge to press the trash bin icon beneath the post. Stupid spammers on Waluigious...

Yeah, I was the one who pointed that out in the last article you wrote. Still, that site is even better with Google Translator.

grrr, that is an awesome Mario fan site. It's nice to see over in China they actually know how to design decent websites.

It's a shame they don't seem to update anymore I need to find a picture to text translator to read those comics.

I just found one Japanese fan site: kikaim.s8.xrea.com/index2.htmSome nice photos if you click on the red button to the left of Waluigi. Also, there are some links to other Japanese Mario sites, and yeah, as already suggested, there might be millions, we just don't know about them and they don't care about us.

It's interesting, but again, how come no domain names like waluigious.com?

I guess they're cheap? I've also found many Japanese sites have abbreviation-like domain names, I guess they all just use bookmarks instead of memorizing things, you know, like smart people. It's because of the American "duuh, anything longer than 10 letters I won't be able to input and much less memorize" mentality that everyone in the English-speaking web wants short, pithy domains. PDoogan: The Koopatorivm was a great site. Some of the best Mario art I've ever seen. The oekaki board was great, too. I hope it gets revived...

Wait, the Koopatorivm is down? grrr, all the good sites seem to get hit. I remember another site like that, which vanished without a trace... I think it was the Super Mario Bros Info Station or something.
But yeah, about the domains... I recall reading somewhere the Japanese use little images of a search box with a relevant term typed in, like Google rather than URLS on advertising. I still don't get why not fan sites have any kind of domain at all, it's less the length than the fact so many over there are still stuck on free hosting. Heck, here's a random hint: Japan is the only country where Geocities still offers free webhosting.

Let me guess, you're also one of those people who only joins to disprove a point about some site and then never post again?
Because that would be uncool.
