They aren't Strong enough for that, though(Not checking the Cake, Defending the Castle). Look at SMG's Intro.

Don't underestimate Puppy Power.
Anyway, I think Toads are strong, but Bowser's Army is stronger. Look at the Master, I doubt he could become that strong if he were as weak as you all seem to think Toads are.

The Master is probably an exception - though, admittedly, it's hard to tell since he is the only Toad ever fought by Mario. See, there are strong Goombas, too - Goombella has 30 HP, more than some bosses, by the end of the game, and can deal unlimited damage with enough skill, but that doesn't mean Goombas aren't the weakest weaklings ever.

There are pictures of Goombas in the Mario baseball games telekinetically holding the bat. So I think by now Goomba telekinesis is a small but established fact.
