So I guess it would have been misspelled regardless

So were we gonna add a board for Metroid, Zelda, and other video games?

I know my opinion doesn't count for anything, but oh God, please no. This place is really the only Mario-only place I know, and with the other boards, it would become just as generic as the others. We could just as well add a PS3 and X-Box board.

Yeah, is the name of the board "Nintendology"?
"Video-game-ology"?
"Red-Eye-of-Death-ology"?

Right, things are almost done, but it's going to be slow finishing because I'm going to be extremely busy the next week or so. Order of business: - Finish with images - Proboards have added a few more since I put up all the new ones so I'll have to dig out the files again.
- Make a header for each skin.
- Copypaste the images to all skins.
- Appoint two admins (I think two would be a good number for the current number of active users).

Well, that's good.

Speaking of, when're you gonna update A Smashing Saga?
Not trying to pile more work on you, just sayin'.

O course guys, the main focus would remain Mario, but I think side boards for Zelda, Metroid, Star Fox, and Pokemon would be okay. But it's up to the forum. Besides, what other forums do you know that discuss Mario, or any Nintendo game like we do? I doubt anything short of making an NSider clone would make us generic.

Maybe if someone can make a different partner forum to discuss those series...
Sadly, I don't have the knowledge, time, or (possibly) money to run one.

I don't know if anyone would care, but if this forum becomes non-Mario-exclusive, it would betray its core values, and, well, Waluigious and I would no longer be friends of this forum. Generification is the first step towards total offtopicness and death.

I don't think it's as bad as Artemendo says, and even if the site link was removed from Waluigious because it's not entirely a Mario forum, the link could likely remain on the sidebar under 'Links to Marios', and the site wouldn't lose any popularity or page rank (no offence to anyone, but while the button is fantastic, it's not going to make a massive difference to whether any particular Waluigious visitor clicks on it and comes to this forum).
But should it become slightly less Mario focused? Maybe, maybe not. I wouldn't want it to become general Nintendo, otherwise it'd be competing with my own site (what? I have some self interest you know!), and I honestly think series like Zelda or Pokemon have another places to discuss on the internet, and about as many to discuss how the series universe for either works. It's unique by being an exclusively Mario theory forum, making a more general one is basically competing with Zelda Universe and the like. And this forum wouldn't win with that kind of competition.
I would no longer be friends of this forum
Hopes this doesn't mean Artemendo would leave the minute it became a more generic site. That might be what happened on the other forums he joined, right?
But any suggestions? Well I'd say... get a new host, preferrably paid with a good domain name (one that's not going to get mixed up with a theology forum) and get a graphics expert to design more of the images (*Looks at Artemendo*). Proboards management are complete and utter jerks in my experience, and a lot of the problems with regard to missing features and such are probably due to Proboards deciding they can't be bothered to actually listen to the customers and add them. Yes, I would love to beat up the idiot who manages Proboards, why do you ask?

I would leave if this became less Mario-centered, yes, because for me, it would be betrayal. Betrayal of what this forum stood for in the 5 years it has existed.
Also, yes, this happened to me before. Stuff getting ruined just as I am getting into it... it's not even been a month since I registered here, and I already feel like I've been here for years! Don't destroy this, please!
If someone is willing to take the technical aspect of this into their hands, I will gladly help with the design or pay for a domain.

Well, the question of course is whether anyone here actually has the money or such to get hosting for this place outside of Proboards. Wait, what examples are things do you know that got ruined as you go into them? Digibutter.ner right? The ironic aspect is, this is probably the most active purely Mario forum around. I mean, no offence, but it's certainly doing better than the Mushroom Kingdom site and such.

Digibutter, a couple other Mario sites, and Broken Picture Telephone. Man, Broken Picture Telephone was amazing... and it lasted exactly one week after I started.
Yes, this forum is pretty active, this is why making it more general makes no sense. It's not like doing this will attract more Mario fans, no, doing this will attract people who are NOT Mario fans.

I just looked at Digibutter... good God, it's basically become a spam board filled with auto RSS posted news and no replies. Who cares what Kotaku and GoNintendo posted? People go to their sites for it, not a supposedly Mario site that's become some news aggregator ripoff. Talk about taking a good idea and killing it by trying to 'modernise it' with the horrible Vanilla software.
What was Broken Picture Telephone again? And the other sites you joined and such?
Still, I think we know exactly why not to change up this forum to cover more than the Mario series.

Digibutter was good back when the entire gimmick was "forum members behave like Mario characters". Then Francis brought in items and it became some sort of roleplay, then he announced "this board can't hold the amount of awesome I have in store for it!" and now it's... garbage.
Broken Picture Telephone was a game where people started off with a small description, and then went through cycles of "draw the description" and "describe the drawing" until it's a hilarious chain of transformations. I loved it because the ideas were often very creative and because you didn't have to be the greatest artist ever to have a good-looking drawing since there were only like 8 colors available.
The other sites... Super Mario Portal, and some other I can't even remember yet. I once tried joining Boo Mansion, but the barrier to entry is too high. It's like being a kid at a secret Freemason conference and trying to add to the conversation. You only sound ridiculous.

Kind of, although I still don't see what was wrong with the old board format. Oh, I think I get the gimmick. There's a name for that kind of game, I can't remember. But what you describe is that kind of game with pictures instead of descriptions. Didn't the former shut down? I know because one of my own site's members was once at Super Mario Portal. And the second one I guess is like a clique as far as community goes, right, and I presume somewhere where everyone else there has visited for like, years, correct?

If Boo Mansion became a closed-in group, we should do the opposite and welcome anyone interested in Mariology. (Our version, that is.)

Well, if KingKoopa and MetaBlackYoshi agree, I'll make a topic/poll for his subject. But I didn't want to do anything without the Administrator's approval.

I think that this site should still focus mainly on Mario. But we should still keep the generalized video game section at the bottom (you know console boards, handheld boards)
