Well, he did recieve power from the star rod. That could of changed him. Or maybe he's just a being made by the star rod?

I don't know, he was picked on by boos but I think that bowser just used his powers to take out his hart and make him invinsible.

yeah, the boos tormented him and bowser made him invisable. the rest of the guardians don't state that bowser messed with them in anyway (although bowser could have helped the dudes take over the areas they were in, like lava piranha stated)
